Hi you guys! I am almost ending this process but I thought I had everything ready. Buuuut almost one week later I got the package from the embassy saying I need to bring original papers but also translation for that.  Did you bring translated papers to the interview?

Most Embassy's require all documents to be translated to English. Sorry you missed that requirement.

For your Embassy that may be true but not for the Philippines embassy.

So what you're saying, for Philippines you don't need to submit a ds 160 to schedule an interview? I just want to clarify. Because i feel like we are talking about two separate things. And also for Pakistan, it's exactly that procedure too.

5/10 NOA2 still not received... anybody else not received?  Didn't expect to see an NOA2 from several days after mine get there first... just more confused now.

No two cases are going to be the same. They will be adjudicated at different times and released at different times. So watching what happens to others can lead to a shorter life span for the applicant :jest: Just have to have a little more patience.

Yes for the Philippines a DS-160 is not used for anything but the interview. So the applicant can submit it up to the day before the interview, print the confirmation and show up at their designated interview appointment.

This is why it is so important to be in the sub forum for your country as there are "experts" there to answer your questions. That you search your Embassy's website for instructions. That you review the "portals" here on VJ for your country and read the wiki about your country. There is a wealth of information out there, you just have to take the time to research. Asking folks here what to do is doing a disservice to yourself because the intentions are well placed, most are just trying to get their arms around their own Embassy requirements. That's why I hate a thread like this but each month it's created and I say here we go again. It turns in to a whining thread with misinformation being disseminated. It's not going away so it is what it is and I try and help as much as I can.

And you just supported my answer "MOST" require translation to English. What I have seen from time to time is that the Embassy allows their country's native language and English because their are staff that are fluent in either. But, if you (applicant) worked in say Japan and you submitted a document in Japanese they would have no one to interrupt that document. Hence the reasoning for a translation.

So remember I told you guys of the glitch on the Lagos interview scheduling? Well, although my fiancee had a confirmation page for the 6th it was really the 20th, even though he selected the 18th!!! He got no notification or reminder so he has to come back to Lagos again smh

:wow: How disappointing. I wished that the CO could have interviewed your fiancée but I understand why they turned him away. The CO's most likely review their cases the day before the interview to determine if there are any issues that need to be addressed at the interview. If they have not had the time to scour the applicants "folder" then it would be a very different interview. Hence the reason for asking him to return on what they deemed his interview date is.

Did he take the opportunity to wait around outside and talk to anyone existing from their interview and ask some questions? Just a thought.

Yeah, the embassy in Hungary says that if the paperwork you are required to bring is not in either English or in the language of the country you are emigrating from then it needs to be translated to English. So from my understanding that means that if your paperwork is either in English or Hungarian it's fine, but if it's anything else then it needs to be officially translated to English.

It'll say in your packet what needs to be done, but for Hungary it specifically states that if your paperwork is not in Hungarian or English then it needs to be officially translated to English. So like in my fiance's case she lived in Germany for a while so she has a German police certificate that needs to be translated to English, but my paperwork I sent her is all in English, and all the rest of her stuff is Hungarian, so the only thing needing translation is the German police certificate.

just to add to the conversation about translations.... You may not need your docs translated for the embassy but you will need it for AOS (at least you will need your birth certificate translated from what I have read). If you have time, it would probably be a good idea to get your birth certificate translated before coming here to the US, depending on which country you are coming from... For example, in Colombia it cost us 3x less than in US. We got ALL of our K1 documents translated over there for the same price that we got his divorce certificate translated here.
