Your friend was very confused on how to use the CEAC website. I helped them out by sharing my knowledge. If you look, I took alot of time and effort in my explanation.

This forum does have a lot of useful information however it does also contain misinformation. We should all be wary of that and try to promote providing information that will not confuse others or send them down a path of worry. We are all on the same journey.

And yes, moving on.

It has been forever. We were finally approved and now just waiting for Visa on Hand. We were August 2017 filers!  This is our first real milestone. On to USA and our AOS. !

Question. I had my interview on Oct 3rd. The case status still says Ready. How long does it normally take for it to change. What does it change to?

 It will go from "Immigrant Visa Application" to "Nonimmigrant Visa Application" status and then your visa changes to "Ready" ==> "Administrative Processing" ==>> "Issued" status as well. These steps sometimes transpire over a day or even a few days. Some smaller Embassy's it happens within hours.

Sometimes, it might skip "Administrative Processing" and go from "Ready" to "Issued".

If you select your flag in your profile it's going to open up to a page with lots of information. In the middle upper part of the page you are going to see "Quick Links" then in the list select "Embassy Review" and you will be taken to a page where you can read what others have experienced at your Embassy and you can add your review. Once it is complete then cut and paste the URL for your review into this thread to share with everyone. This keeps the thread clean and tidy, and not only those who are here to see it but others who may not see this thread but would see your experience. A good interview will point out some of the hiccups that you experienced along the way and the highlights of your experience. These are very helpful. I am looking forward to your review and thanks for sharing.

Do you know how to use this website?

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==

This is what I have been referring to for the last 30 minutes (and I thought you were too🤯).

You select "immigrant" from the drop down menu and input your NVC number. This is only effective for when you are tracking the status from NVC to the embassy so because your petition is already AT your embassy you DO NOT USE THE "IMMIGRANT" OPTION anymore.

Now that you have had your interview, you will now choose "Non-Immigrant" from the drop down menu, put your DS160 confirmation number in the box, choose your embassy country and input the passcode of letters and numbers.

This is where you and these other ppl you have been talking about will now see your status change as your Visa crosses the appropriate desks at your embassy for processing as it heads to you (for Visa on hand).

I think the disconnect here is you must use the case number for the status to display. All your other instructions and observations are correct.

Sorry, I might be a little late to the party but my information is also for those who come behind.

So my visa is in issued state for 2 days now. Do they normally send you a tracking number or are you notified once the visa is ready for pickup?
