Ready  - Application Received (NIV) - Administrative Processing (NIV) - Issued

Hello All!

After a long wait on our NOA2, our application is now with the NVC. I called last Monday, and was given the case number, cool! As of this Monday, it is still 'at NVC' status. I am wondering whether it is safe to submit the DS-160 now, or does the case need to say 'Ready' before I submit the form? Also, approximately how long have others waited to turn from 'at NVC' to 'Ready" does that depend on the embassy?

Thanks,

Andrew

Based on the discussions I had with the case officer he informed me of the steps for Embassy Manila:

the first AP is the immigration unit doing the paperwork for approving the visa

the first ready is a notice that they are finished and the paperwork is being sent for visa issuance

the second AP is the visa issuance people doing their own paperwork

the second ready is that the visa has been issued and is currently being processed for delivery

Then "issue" is posted and the visa has left the BIG house to YOUR house.

Once you get that second ready, it should be sent out within a few days, although we received our visa before any of the various websites that allow you to look up the status said that it had been sent out.

That is not entirely true as @L and Eare asking about the visa approval process at their Embassy. Your quoted I believe at NVC for case number.

After visa approval at the interview:

The DS-160 can be filed at anytime. It has no specific submittal date with the Exception that it must be done by the day before your interview. So now or when you have your interview; it doesn't really matter.

From NVC to Ready depends on the Embassy. normally 2-4 weeks.

I was wondering if you could transfer visa fees from one embassy to another ? Thank you

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from one Embassy to another U.S. Embassy/Consulate, please contact the appropriate U.S. Embassy/Consulate directly in the country where you wish to apply and follow their instructions for case transfer. Please click here for the full list of all U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas.

They old Embassy will need to receive a formal file transfer request from that U.S. Embassy/Consulate in the country where you wish to apply. Upon receipt of this request, they will immediately forward the file for their processing.

Once you contact your New Embassy you then can discuss the transfer of your fee. Be sure to have your payment receipt available.

Hello everyone

I just got my NOA2 on the 19th but I have been reading this thread and wondering what everyone is talking about. I need help to understand what is going on with all these terminologies am not familiar with. Am worried about the next steps because I really have July to get things set up for when I leave for annual training (army reserve) in August for one month and God knows what I can get done from there. I was wondering if anyone could highlight the steps involved in this NVC part and if I have to send any packages to my fiancee in Nigeria or maybe even book her medical. Thanks for kind advices.

Still no luck today.

I called them and try to ask the same question like can I schedule an interview blablabla.

Then the representative told me 'no, the case is still at NVC not sending to Singapore yet. And it is under administrative processing. There's no time frame.'

So sad....

Fiancé/Fiancée visas (K1s, K3s)

If your K1 or K3 petition has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security and you have received notification from the National Visa Center that your petition is on its way to post, you should download and complete the following application. The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will contact you when your petition has arrived at post so that you may schedule your appointment. If you have questions, you may e-mailLagosIV@state.gov. [Click to open "Interview Preparatory Packet (K1, K3)"PDF 539KB] Also, please review the pamphlet “Information on the Legal Rights Available to Immigrant Victims of Domestic Violence in the United States and Facts about Immigrating on a Marriage-Based Visa.”  (PDF 53KB) https://photos.state.gov/libraries/nigeria/487468/pdfs/Interview_Prep_Packet_K1-K3_SEP14.pdf

Here is a recent couple who just finished their visa interview. These are some of the questions that were asked as well as the documents that were checked. Follow the Embassy instructions as to what to bring for the interview. You'll need all those documents in the event they are asked for.

Then maybe it's because they can see more information about the case. But for me, they just tell me it is in AP.... And after a research on VJ, ppl could be stuck at nvc because of AP up to 8 weeks. I am freaked out now...

I don't know.  I just called and then they told me.

But the case number was assigned 2 weeks ago. And I know ppl whose NOA2 is after mine, her case is already 'ready' at embassy.

So then I decided to call and was told that my case is under 'AP'.
