I am not saying a black person should or has to support Trump, not sure where that came from, so I will ask you a similar question, should all black people support the Democrats?  Everyone needs to be free thinkers and not just echo the narratives of their identity category masters.  It is interesting, however, how many of Trump's policies have benefitted black people.  I know, Trump is a blatant racist, so I am sure he held back from benefitting them more.  People are allowed to think for themselves and they should!  They should not be tied to a political identity created by a bunch of political leaders that only want to keep the masses in line and voting for them.

similarly, not sure where this idea came from that all black people should support democrats. black people should support whatever candidates align with their values.

saying that trump's policies have benefited black people is too vague to mean anything. how has trump's policies benefited black people? what policies?

trump has the support of white supremacists for a reason, you know.

this idea that any race is tied to a particular political identity placed upon them by political leaders is basically saying people are not thinking for themselves. no one has come out and said white people have to vote republican. why? because it's dumb. no one thinks that, similarly black people haven't always thought 'i have to vote democratic' but now that kayne has clued them in that they don't have to? now they're free to vote otherwise? condescending trash, that's all that's come out of kayne's ignorant mouth?

That is an assumption that seems to be prevalent in the Democratic party.  I remember J. Gruber during the Obamacare discussion expressing this thought pretty clearly.

um, that is an assumption that is no where close to being held by just one political party.

The numbers suggest that this is the case and certainly the rhetoric does, people generally for not like being taken for granted and then having their needs ignored.

how can the numbers suggest that black people don't think for themselves, but only if they vote democratic? makes zero sense.

There's an assumption that black voters don't need to be persuaded to vote for Democrats. But Shropshire said they do.

"Black voters, in particular, want to understand how Democrats are going to address a whole range of racial justice issues, and so running away from those issues is a non-starter," she said.

Beyond traditional Democratic policies around the economy and healthcare, some of the voters NPR talked to say they want to hear candidates talking about criminal justice reform or racial tension.

"The anti-Trump sentiment is not enough, we have to tell people what to vote for, who to vote for," said Quentin James, founder of Collective PAC, an organization working to get black candidates into elected office.

In 2016, despite the dip in turnout, African-Americans still overwhelmingly voted Democrat, so there's no realistic assumption they will shift to the Republican party en masse this November.

Shropshire said the fear is that they'll just stay home.

And neither party is doing anything about it, the Dems because they assume the black community is in their back pocket and the GOP because they are too afraid of discussing racial issues for fear of being labeled a racist by the Dems that are afraid the black community they assume is in their back pocket will actually listen to them.  Just look at any black person that expresses even the inkling of a conservative viewpoint or tries to discuss racial issues from a right leaning perspective, they get labeled Uncle Tom, or a great organization like the SPLC label them a hate monger.

We also need to be aware that your average white progressive is going to be far more aware of the needs of the Black community than they are.

You must have had a 8 year amnesia.
