Our I-864 info arrived in the mail finally today  , but after reading the I-864 form over, I'm a little confused about a couple things:

-We're using a joint sponsor, and he easily meets the income requirements, so with that being said, is it ok to only submit his 2006 tax transcripts, or do we still need the last 3 years?

-I've heard that you only need to submit W2's if you don't submit official IRS tax transcripts, but the form says we do need to submit them anyways, is that true?

-Last but not least do both sponsors need to get bank statements with info on how long the account has been open, all deposits made in past 6 months, etc, and employer statements as well?

Sorry for all the questions, but I read the form 3 times and am still a little confused, and don't want to send it in with missing documents! (NVC's helpline is closed today as well, so I wasn't able to get help there.)

Thanks in advance for any replies! :)

You may want to read the instructions with I-864, bank statements are not requested on them, you are thinking of I-134.

The instructions with form I-864 indicate, IRS data is required, and employer letter, and pay-stubs optional.

IRS transcripts can be used in place of (1040,W2,1099) 1 year required (Now 2006), other 2 years are optional.

With new requirements:

_ You and your joint sponsor only need the most recent tax year's (2006) transcripts/

_ Yes, if you submit the IRS official transcript, you don't need to send W-2, but if you want to send them both, it will be okay.

_ You and your sponsor do not need any bank statement. Both of you need to get letters from respective employers and get the most recent pay stub.

Wow thanks, that clears everything up. Most of that stuff we already have, so the rest should be a breeze.
