USPS Informed Delivery Daily Digest shows us receiving a letter from Immigration Services. We haven't had an update in awhile, my gut says it something about biometrics similar to the user above.

Glad to help! Trust me, I nearly went to Mexico on the assumption that since my GC was good enough, so would the extension letter. I was wrong!

The Mexico consulate website is very clear about this: "All EAD cards, I-797A Forms, Advance Parole Forms, I-20 OR DS-2019 are not accepted to enter Mexico."

Why would Mexico care where you live? Where are you guys from that need visas to enter Mexico? I’m assuming any of you have Latin American passports.

Hello everyone! I saw that everyone’s been getting letters indicating that prior biometrics will be used. I haven’t received the letter, but checked the status of my application online, and it states that yesterday (2/28/2019), Fingerprint Review Was Completed. Does this mean that they will use my biometrics on file as well?

Hi April filer here, I got the same notification and the "Case Tracker" shows as Fingerprint Review was Completed. The envelope is coming from CSC so must likely is a "Biometric Reuse Letter" I am waiting for my roommate to wake up so he can check.

On the same topic does anybody know whether one can travel to Canada with an expired GC and a valid I-797 extension letter?

Depends on your country and I know CA requires transit visa for Indian citizen in past which is why I avoided Air Canada. Although, recently they started giving visa at airport itself - so double check.

Okay I was right, it was about biometrics and they are just going to reuse the previous ones. Great to have a progress update at the least.

I was wondering the same. I am from Colombia and they do not require Visa, neither green card to enter Mexico 🇲🇽. I went to Puerto Vallarta last October with my expired green card and Colombian Passport (without any visas) and was never questioned about it. However, I don’t know if they have different rules depending your nationality.

Thanks! I'll double check the requirements. Did you mean that Indian citizens were required a transit visa when traveling on Air Canada and not other airlines?

You can. I have an eTA and I had no problem using my extension letter and expired GC.

Thanks for the reply.

There are certain countries whose nationals require visas for entry to Mexico. The list is easily searchable online. Generally, any one, regardless of nationality, is exempt from the visa requirement if they have an UNEXPIRED U.S. green card. Those from the said countries (the ones requiring visas) who have expired green cards AND an extension letter, will still need to apply for a Mexican visa, as Mexico does not accept the I-797 extension letter as proof of U.S. permanent residence

Hi Everybody, today I received the letter from USCIS California Service Center regarding reusing Biometrics. It is dated 2/22/19.

This at least gives a good vibe that they are touching our files/cases.

Good luck to everyone and I hope we'll see approvals starting next week.
