I am eligible for citizenship, but I will wait couple of months if we getting any updates, if not I will apply and I will get two interviews it doesnt matter. Anybody here thinking to apply for citizenship?

Yes, definitely thinking of doing that, our N-400 filing window opens in two months.

I would like to get some information as well, if anyone has been keeping track with those who has applied in other threads? Please share some info about processing time? :)

Like how long we are seeing ppl getting approved after they filed for N-400 while ROC is pending, any hiccups they are encountering etc.

Thanks!

Yes please share, there is also an issue I am having. I want to visit Mexico and Aruba and it says that with Green card is fine but since mine is expired my 18 months extension is valid until November2019, I dont know if they will let me go in. I know coming back is fine but going to these countries might be an issue. Please anybody had any issues?

I can tell you from personal experience that you NEED A VISITOR VISA to visit Mexico if your GC has expired and you have an I-797 extension letter. I am not sure about other countries, but Mexico does not recognize the USCIS extension letter. If your physical GC has expired, you will need a visa or risk being denied admission at the port of entry. The Mexico consulate confirmed the same to me and this was just a few months ago. My suggestion is to spend $30 on a visitor visa (I got a 10 yr visa) and not take any chances.

Thank you so much for your reply, you are right some officers may not recognize that letter, and honestly that letter looks not formal for me lol. I will definitely do that. Thank you so much

Glad to help! Trust me, I nearly went to Mexico on the assumption that since my GC was good enough, so would the extension letter. I was wrong!

The Mexico consulate website is very clear about this: "All EAD cards, I-797A Forms, Advance Parole Forms, I-20 OR DS-2019 are not accepted to enter Mexico."

Nothing really to elaborate, beyond what I already posted!

The gist is that Mexico does not recognize or accept the I-797 Extension letter as proof of  legal U.S. permanent resident status, and those with such letters need to make an appointment at the nearest Mexican consulate and apply for a visitor's visa.

That is what I did, and got a 10-yr multiple entry Mexico visa.

I applied for Mexican Visa in 2016 on Advance Parole and I think they only gave me 6 months tourist visa :( what a pain!

Time to re-apply - can't wait to be US Citizen, I hate traveling to other countries except US / Home Country.

On the same topic does anybody know whether one can travel to Canada with an expired GC and a valid I-797 extension letter?

You can. I have an eTA and I had no problem using my extension letter and expired GC.

So the USCIS website hasn't updated my status since they received my forms.

I already went in and got my biotmetrics last summer - is anyone else having this issue?

Do I need to call them ask them to update the online status, or should I just leave it and is it normal?
