I will be applying for Japan visa, since my green card is expired and I only have the extension letter, will that work? Did anybody apply for tourist visa with extension letter?

Quick question:

For the ones that would like to file for Naturalization while waiting for the Removal of Condition from their Greencard, the requirements state "Generally, certain lawful permanent residents married to a U.S. citizen may file for naturalization after residing continuously in the United States for three years if immediately preceding the filing of the application", but the N-400 form says "You have been a lawful permanent resident of the United States for at least 3 years. In addition, you have been married to and living with the same US citizen spouse for the last 3 years,..."

Does this mean:

  • Have been married for 3 years (and lived in the States for 3 years) or
  • Have had the Greencard for 3 years

I am assuming most of us got the Greencard a few months later, so I want to make sure we are referring to the correct date.

Oh, and what is the difference in the process if I want to keep my German citizenship?

Thanks!

Nothing is different in the process this side about your German citizenship. You would have to contact German Embassy to see what you have to do to keep. I thought Germany didn't do dual citizenship but contact them.

They changed it a few years ago and Germans can now have dual citizenship.

So sad :(

For all those worried about your extension expiring. i was just reading that if your extension is getting close, you have to setup an appointment with your local USCIS office and they will give you another extension.

This is the 2018 filers thread so none of us should be getting that close yet.

So far April 2018 CSC still hasn't heard anything, once they get activity, we should shortly after that.

Hi all - checking in to see if any May filers to the California center have received their biometric date yet? No movement on my application since I received the 18 month extension.

So far the Mid-Month April Filers are the last to receive biometrics.

Anyone who is past that and has contacted USCIS has been told that Biometrics are waived as of May due to the workload.

I wouldn't expect to hear anything from them until it's RFE time, which is still a whiles away.

01.24.2019. Same here. Have not heard one word. Pretty sure they will now blame it on the Democrats government shutdown. You can see why I back "Building the Wall". For those of us who are trying to do this the legal way, I have no sympathy for those who try to sneak in illegally. Send their sorry asses back..
