MIL decided she would offer to cover cleaning jobs for EVERYONE in the church when they go on vacation. This would be fine if she was able to do the work. She can't and I only find out once they've gone on vacation and MIL has the building keys.

I am going to snap and tell them all that an 84 year old woman is not doing all their heavy cleaning and if they weren't so stupid they'd know this - I don't care who gets mad or embarrassed this has to stop.

 

We have finally started ripping out our master bath, it's a fabulous feeling knowing it'll be done soon & then we can start on the kitchen 😁

I'd put a quick stop to that carry on. I have in the past, when MIL volunteered me for stuff she could not manage.  No is a complete sentence. Let them come back from holiday and find out what the 'help' has been up to. And I don't know what kind of nutjobs would even think someone her age, who says she has been repeatedly dying for years, could do their dirty work while they swan off on holiday.

I'm stuck for this period that's she already agreed to do (and has been paid for) but I'm going to make darn sure they know it's the last time.

 

Bathroom and kitchen we're doing ourselves with help from a contractor friend. They badly need updating but as we plan to sell and move once his mom is no longer with us we don't want to spend a huge amount.

Most of our available cash is going to be needed for buying land and putting a house on it in for our old age

I am according to my appointment letter 😂😂

I'm not stressed by this stage at all, this time next year I will have submitted the N400 and hopefully in a couple of years (or less) I'll be a citizen and all done with immigration

Mrs. T-B. didn't get much (if anything, that we recall) at Ikea, no Nola-B. ma'am.

Cabinets were from a local co., shop around she man.

We got most of the appliances, cheap we man.

Labor from the one dude was rather cheap, and we'd call it "middlin'" from the others, offhand impression man.
