Agreed.  He needs short term pain for long term gains.  So help him but in the end if he won't help himself, then there isn't much you can do.  Other than tell him to stop whinging.  I hate hearing people say omg I'm so fat as they scarf down 2 big macs and a supersize coke.  No sympathy for ya!  Yer doing it to yourself.  I've done it! Cried into a pint of ice cream and gotten mad at myself but a little willpower goes a long way.

I finally got the Dane to stop buying fast food with big sodas at work.  He was all like "it is included in the price of the meal."  His super high dental bills aren't though.  And for that same $10, he could go to Panera and get a salad.

I get it, I like snack food and bread and cookies and well you get the point.  I have no idea where this desire to consume a million calories in a super size meal comes from.  Even as an adult, the only thing I could ever stomach was maybe a 6 piece nugget or a $1 burger with no fries.

My pet peeve is parents who let their kids get fat and/or give them soda.

Well, it is more about the teeth...

The Dane and I don't let the kids have soda and they only get juice on very special occasions.    For us, it is important because our parents both did a real number on our teeth.  I think it is called dental neglect?  Makes one hyper-sensitive to these issues.

Thanks Nikki

He knows all this and is eating better in the house ( I won't have any kind of junk food in here) but I know he's still getting junk on the way to work *sigh*

I have tried to get him to join a gym with a pool but he refuses so I'm working on getting him to put a pool here. I'm not giving up but it's so frustrating when he won't do anything to help himself (I know a lot of his attitude is fear but he has to face this)

Oooo...pool ! :D

We aren't big junk food junkies here. My Husband isn't into anything sweet either, because he can't taste it. Bitter and sour are his two choices.  Anything other than that tastes like styrofoam, so he says.

On the other hand, I have quite a sweet tooth.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

We are trying to out-figure a scheduling issue for the weekend, deduce we man.

The full lawns of both casa must be mowed, can't be ignored man.

If we attempt both in one day, we risk killing ourself, potentially dead we man.

If we do one on Sat. & one on Sun., we blow our entire weekend, unacceptable man.

We therefore have devised the following idea, see following man.

1.  We leave the POTS office an hour early, hopefully not bad traffic man.

2.  We make a mandatory delivery to Mama T-B., insistent senior she man.

Many.  We blow back to the casa, avoid bored Constables we man.

Many.  We hurriedly change from our professional POTS attire into mow-lawning attire, presto-changeo we man.

Many.  We take mower to r-casa, smaller lawn fewer mosquitoes man.

Many.  We wait to do our casa lawn on Sat., after overnight mosquito-control trucks come by, don't bite us man.

On Thurs. eve, after lengthy caucus with Mama T-B., we visited r-casa, inspect we man.

(Yesterday, someone had placed dog-poop in the front planter, sore at rejection for dog-ownership man.)

We arrived at tail-end of r-casa showing, clients already in their vehicle man.

Agent eagerly accosted us, eager she man.

The dialogue, read man:

She:  Are you the owner?

We:  Si, ma'am.

She:  I've known my clients for Many (2+2+2) years.  The father ran off and left them lots of bills, and they

need to move right away.  They love your house.  They wanted to see it even before I read the listing.

We [internally rolling eyes]:  Si, ma'am.

She:  Would you like to meet them?  I want you to see how nice they are.

We:  Well, we're in a hurry.  Do they meet the financial minimum on the listing, huh ma'am?

She:  Yes, because the son has offered to co-sign for them.

We [internally rolling eyes higher]:  How many kids, huh ma'am?

She:  Many (2+1).  One is an Honors Stoodent at ____ Skool.

We:  Pets, huh ma'am?

She:  A dog.

We [internally rolling eyes completely inside head]:  Well, submit an app if you really want to, sigh man.

She:  Oh, they will!  They will!

Rant, grrrr man:  If the listing says "no dogs," why do you think there'll be an exception, huh man?

Rant, grrrr man:  If the listing says "gross income requirement Many x monthly rent," why should you expect us to accept a co-signer, huh man?

Do these agents think or even have a brain in their head, huh man?

I know how you feel because I am a LL as well. One time I was literally putting the sign in the yard when I a guy comes up and asks "Do you take Section 8?". I said that I did if they qualified by all the other requirements I have, needless to say they didn't qualify.

We try to watch what our kids eat and drink as well. They only get 1 cup of juice a night at dinner and if they want more then they go get water. We keep a close watch on what they eat and drink sugar wise because my 2 older kids have already had at least 5 cavities a piece due to living with their mom before and she giving them candy all the time to placate them. So of course I got stuck with the dental bills when I got custody of them.

Yeah the kid has nice teeth, I taught her to take good care of it. She uses floss too. But she'll need braces. The l little one will be buck toothed if she doesn't stop sucking on her binky...

My son will definitely need braces for sure because his canines look like vampire teeth. He blames me for how they look because I pulled the baby teeth out with pliers when they got loose. My oldest(11) and my youngest(1) will probably need braces as well. I just hope my baby's teeth look better when she loses the baby teeth, but she hates us brushing her teeth right now. You would seriously think they we are bad parents by the way she cries when we have to hold her down to brush them.
