Redneck has nothing but bone in his knee, this is making it very painful to walk on and makes redneck a very grumpy boy - even grumpier because they won't operate until he's lost weight.

 

I am beyond frustrated with his BS excuses for not doing this and am getting very unsympathetic. I will do everything I can to help but I can't do it for him.

 

My diverticulitis has popped it's head up to say hi again, MIL has lost the plot and is saying really nutty stuff & my mum is having a brain scan today as she suddenly lost her hearing in one ear and they can't find any reason for that in her ear.

On the plus side USCIS have decided that I can keep my name instead of being known as 'no given name', they have even said they're sending me a new NOA1 so I don't have to go to the blackhole that is Charlotte 😁

Trudi since he cant move around, losing weight will be a matter of diet.  I suggest no junk food and only the amount of food you guys need to eat 1 week at a time in the house until he's ok for surgery at least.  He will complain about the smaller portion sizes (which in reality are appropriate because US portion sizes are huge.) But either that or he's in pain longer because of his knee.  I also suggest pool activities for exercise since he doesn't need to put pressure on the knee except in and out of the pool.  Also water creates resistance to strengthen muscle.

He knows all this and is eating better in the house ( I won't have any kind of junk food in here) but I know he's still getting junk on the way to work *sigh*

I have tried to get him to join a gym with a pool but he refuses so I'm working on getting him to put a pool here. I'm not giving up but it's so frustrating when he won't do anything to help himself (I know a lot of his attitude is fear but he has to face this)

Agreed.  He needs short term pain for long term gains.  So help him but in the end if he won't help himself, then there isn't much you can do.  Other than tell him to stop whinging.  I hate hearing people say omg I'm so fat as they scarf down 2 big macs and a supersize coke.  No sympathy for ya!  Yer doing it to yourself.  I've done it! Cried into a pint of ice cream and gotten mad at myself but a little willpower goes a long way.
