I am more than ready for the rain to stop now!

Had my CCW interview a couple of weeks ago, I say interview but she asked no questions, was just signing the forms and taking my fingerprints. Redneck is still struggling with the idea that I'm going to pick my own CCW, poor lad keeps telling me he knows what I need 😂

You are holding up remarkably well and will do fine, si D2 ma'am.

thank you!

I'm fuming because someone said it's ''normal'' and ''not ridiculous''  to wait 4-5 friggin months for an interview date since Mexico City is the country that gets the most VISAS. Sure, I know that, it's still a ridiculous amount of time to wait. Still hopeful I'll get a date for July, but it is starting to look less and less likely. Sometimes I wish Mexicans were less obsessed with being close to their entire friggin' families, which I know sounds mean. I love my parents, but the fact I'm moving to the U.S doesn't mean I will try to get them both there.

My grandma said I was ''heartless'' because I won't start the process for them AND my brother, and I don't even have a relationship with him. I'm moving to the U.S because my husband lives there and we will start a life together. It's just a horrible idea anyway since my family lives at the beach and there they can afford to retire, but not in the U.S. Oh well.

sorry for the rant. I mean, it IS a rant thread named desire.

Family guilt trips are the worse. Start your life with your husband and enjoy. You don't need more stress like that.

I've been called heartless by my family. My niece had the nerve to yell at me because I was leaving everyone behind. She is very much like my older sister it's all about them and what can they get out of you. We didn't even see each other when we lived in the same town. Why would I care what they think or even ask permission to leave. My family is my husband and kids. Then my parents, my sisters an I never got along even as a child. My younger sister just recently has been much more enjoyable to be around but we are far from best buds. We just do not think the same or have the same values.

You're not heartless for wanting them to retire in comfort vs struggling like many retirement age people in the USA do.

Also I agree 4-5 months is ridiculous.

My mother at the very least has been supportive and so has my one sister but my step-father and my brother have not.  My brother simply refuses to acknowledge I exist anymore.  I agree wth just living your life and trying to ignore the naysayers and people who just want you to do something for them.

My family thankfully also have zero desire to move here.  Mom is more than happy to just spend 4 months in Arizona or Hawaii, or some other random timeshare!  LOL!!

Figured out the camera I would likely want to replace my current beastie... D7500.  I have to play with one in a store though.  Hubs thinks I'm crazy for wanting to spend that much on a camera when I don't use mine much.  Well it sucks.. so yeah I don't use it much because I hate editing photos.

Thank you!  They would have a way better quality of life in Cozumel, and they do. They own a house, rent an apartment in front of the ocean and have a nice retirement that will actually do good over there. I'm actually not planning to retire in the USA myself anyway, will probably come back to Mexico :)

ugh it is beyond ridiculous. I'm almost half way there, though...

They have zero interest in it, but my in-laws would be much much worse living here than in Denmark.  Honestly, now that our income is rising, we are worse here, when it is used to be a little better off.  Our current struggle: we can't earn too much money or lose our health insurance.  I hate that.  I keep hoping universal healthcare is on the horizon.  My husband won't move back, though, he think Europe is a lost cause.

I'm pretty sure my grandfather cut all four of his kids out of the will because none of them would sponsor him to move to the US or Australia.  I think that none of grandkids would have either had we the option.

I'm kind of glad to know that my husband and I aren't the only ones not close to our siblings.  I mean, there is nothing wrong with my brothers, but we are just in these totally different spheres of life.  I'm much more like our father than them ... I get the wanderlust, I don't mind move countries and every which way.  I actually have to suppress that instinct pretty hard at the moment.  They are still both living in the house they grew up in.

We all remember the story of what happened when my husband decided to leave.... it won't get repeated.

How many Jewish mothers does it take to change a light bulb?
"(Sigh) Don't bother, I'll sit in the dark; I don't want to be a nuisance to anybody."

A man calls his mother in Florida.  "Mom, how are you?"
"Not too good," says the mother.  "I've been very weak."
Concerned, the son asks, "Why are you so weak?"
  "Because I haven't eaten in Many (2x2x2x2x2 + 2+2+2) days," she replies.
Shocked, the man responds, "That's terrible!  Why haven't you eaten in Many (2x2x2x2x2 + 2+2+2) days?"
The mother answers, "Because I didn't want my mouth to be filled with food if you should call."
