How did you get to bethel NY?

I had relatives living on a family farm not far from Eldred, and several cousins around my age, but all a bit older. No distance at all, you could probably drive it in less than half an hour today.  We hitched a ride for maybe half of it, but walked the rest of the way, only a couple of hours, lugging our tent and stuff, from memory a day or two before. There must have been thousands of people already camping out by the time we got there. It was only sort of roughly fenced, and there were no gates then, so we just walked on in. I still have my ticket, good for three days, somewhere here in a box.

In the way way back, a pair of brothers and their families left Ireland for Canada. One stayed, my great-great-whatever, and the other carried on South.  I've also got relies in and around Slidell MS. We used to visit one group or the other when I was a kid, in summer.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Man I thought we were gonna hear some wild story of a thousand mile journey from Nova Scotia or something...

But eh, ok...

You know my property is only about 13 miles ? from bethel. But I've never heard of Eldred till now...

22 miles. Just checked...

Has anyone read the Aretha stories today?  Her childhood and teen years were something else.

Sorry, no long trek. I was in Ontario back then, a little hamlet north of Toronto.  I had no idea you are that close to Bethel. I'm not surprised you haven't heard of Eldred, there wasn't much there then, and I don't know that's changed much now.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

The parts I remember, lol. it was a high old time. It was wet, it was muddy beyond belief. The out of this world music. Best time ever.

less than a week away before Juarez,  two weeks before my interview

I can't believe it's been two years since we began this nightmare (a year and a half since we filed, two years long distance)

I took a much-needed break from the immigration forums.

I've been having dreams about missing flights and it makes sense, I'm under so much stress

So I'm relieving that anxiety every day, hah. I just need to survive the next two weeks, that's it.

Went to a tag sale today, found a bunch of NWT clothes for the oldest and even a pair of Rock Revival jeans.... they are like $160 new.   I thought they were going to be big on her, but she is apparently a size 26 already.  😳  Then again, girls' size 14 is too big around the waist.  I didn't think there was that much overlap in women's and girls' sizing.

Good luck DL. We're all rooting for you. In our little corner of NM, the big news is that La Colombiana passed her combo ROC/N400 interview. Supposedly the new green card will be sent and an Oath Ceremony will be scheduled in late September. In other news her mother is due to arrive with zero english skills in 9 days. Been taking Spanish classes since January so hopefully they'll begin to pay off over this 2.5 month visit.

The Dane file back in early March, but it probably won’t be processed until at least a year from now.
