The estimated processing time for CC permit here is 3 months, everyone I know says that's how long it takes. Mine is ready to collect in 2 months 😁

Pistol shopping can happen for real now...

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

The Troll was out today on his balance bike.

I know there is a prevailing school of thought that it is better than training wheels, but I think he'd prefer being able to pedal.

I'm watching this British show and holy mother of gods, the NHS only has 14 ambulances for London working while they were filming.  14 ambulances for 8 million people.

Then, it takes them like an hour and half to move a witnessed cardiac arrest 5 miles.

My aunt is in and out of hospital now over there.  She's a retired A&E doctor, but they won't even listen to her about what tests to order.

Yeah so much for national health care huh?

That's why the Canadians are lined up at the border getting MRIs in the USA...

But they don't tell you that part...

When my mother had s stroke last year, from the time I called 911 to the time she's in trauma at the hospital, 13 minutes.

Well that is because Canada and the US have an agreement.  It's actually cheaper at times to send Canadians to the States for some things. My mom was sent to Saginaw for a Cat scan. At that time the SOO didn't have a cat scan and the fastest appointment would have been in Toronto. Horrible ride on the bus and hotel room  would have all came out of the gov's pocket. So they sent her to Saginaw.

They also deliver many US babies in the SOO my OBGYN saw many USC in his office. When I had my kids there was a USC that shared a room with me. She said the care and hospital was better then the Michigan hospital. They also  go back and forth with some ER patients too.and other types of medical care. The two cities have a special agreement, and I'm sure other border cities do too.

Now of course you have your doctor shopping and what not and that is out of there own pocket. I don't feel sorry for them though. If they really needed a doctor they would be put to the front of the line. Many are just cry babies.

My father had a stroke and the scans made it look like a tumor. He was flown to Sudbury for a consult with a brain surgeon. He was set for surgery the next morning. Luckyly once the nuero surgeon got the scans he saw it was indeed a stroke. Well a number of them that just blew up the scan and made it look worse.

When you need something you get it. Even in little cities in the middle of nowhere you get sent off to get care.

They send Manitobans over the border to our ERs if they are closer than the Canadian one.  That is actually like the Danish system - if the wait is too long for any surgery or treatment, they'll first send to a private hospital and then out of the country if they have to.  It works a lot more efficiently than the NHS.  I think the NHS is probably broke by comparison, though.

Yeah it seems like with national health care, they have to travel out of the country to get care...

A lot of companies in the US now send their employees overseas for treatment...

But you said it yourself, it's cheaper to send them to the states.

Food related:  I made turkey chili for dinner tonight.  It was delicious.  The Dane picked out the homegrown zucchini.  He doesn't like the texture.  Perhaps next time I'll shred it.
