Just came in from the dog's evening stroll, and for the second time this week she's found a turtle, this time a big snapping turtle. She's a Yorkie, but she can point!

 

We carried the last one down to the pond, but this chap had a ride in the wheelbarrow. He was a bit cranky

 

I can't see that they are getting in under the fence, it goes well beneath the surface, so the only other spot might be under the gates. So tomorrow I will have to come up with a way to block that up.  I think they are heading to the water, but our fence is in the way of an as the crow flies approach.

Box turtles can drown in deep water. They have a really small area they call home, leave him be moving him will put him in danger he won't be in his area. Plus in they are on the protected list here so best leave them be. The dog won't hurt them he's too small. They shut up their shell pretty darn good. 

 

As for the snapping turtle be careful they are nasty.
