K1 Social Security

The procedures listed in Visa Journey (and elsewhere) suggest that a K1 Visa holder should get SS card approx 2 weeks after arrival BUT before marriage. The 2 week waiting period is so that the SAVE-ASVI database that SS uses has time to be updated by USCIS. My only question is, how does a K1 visa holder comply with the Social Security application (SS-5 form) requirement that states: "5. If you check "Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work" or "Other," you must provide a document from a U.S. Federal, State, or local government agency that explains why you need a Social Security number and that you meet all of the requirements for the government benefit. NOTE: Most agencies do not require that you have a Social Security number. Contact us to see if your reason qualifies for a Social Security number."?

Nevermind, K1 should check "Legal Alien Allowed To Work" for block 5 (Citizenship.)

The fiance is not allowed to work until she/he receive EAD or green card.  They will receive the SSN card with the annotation " VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH INS AUTHORIZATION ".

That's correct; K1 is considered a "Legal Alien Allowed To Work" according to SSA POMS RM 10211.530. However, a K1 can only work after they receive EAD. Once a K1 receives Green Card, they are no longer a K1 and can work.
