Is there something wrong with cases from 2017?

hey @Adam&Allison - i took a couple of days off visajourney because i just needed a breather from all the frustration. i hope you are feeling much better today and have simmered down a bit.

so i talked about this with my husband, who is in data analytics/stats, he said something interesting, which apart from this being a result of a system glitch, *could* potentially explain these sudden surge of interviews at the beginning of the year. he mentioned the possibility that somebody's (or the agency etc) performance review may be up (ie beginning of the year) and they needed to badly improve their stats, and so what do they do? they pull the easiest cases from the top of the pile and get those done and dusted - that way they may not necessarily increase their stats volume wise, but that will certainly skew the data in terms of how far along the processing dates they have gotten into! he says this is a pretty common tactic in stats manipulation. sounds like some conspiracy theory i know, but with these guys, who knows, anything is possible.

the other possibility that i thought of, is maybe this group of lucky filers where ones that previously could have been interview waiver candidates but because of recent policy changes with the interview being made more of a requirement, they got scheduled the interview quicker.

I actually heard that also, it would honestly explain a lot.

I've pretty much cooled down also, it appears that the January 2018 filers interview scheduling has pretty much halted so I'm hoping that they can pick up where they left off with 2017 filers.

Also, when I had my Infopass appointment yesterday the immigration officer said that K-1's were no longer getting their interviews waived.

I've also seen this reported by others. At the same time, there are a number of VJ members that have adjusted from K-1 and been approved without an interview, who filed fairly recently. So either they are just waiving less interviews, they haven't actually enacted this change yet, or it's a rumor being spread and there's been no change.

Yeah it's a weird one - I think our field office (you're Philly right?) has been really awful about scheduling 2018 filers. Or sometimes just approving them outright.

Another January 2018 filer through Philadelphia got their interview scheduled. So. Annoying.
