We filed for AOS in July 2017, and I'm sick to death of waking up every day and finding half a dozen people who filed months and months after us get approved outright or their interview scheduled from field offices, including ours, around the country.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for these people and wish them nothing but the best - but how is it fair that we've been waiting almost a year and just had to renew our EAD/AP, yet most people from 2018 aren't even getting far enough into the process to get their EAD/AP first time around.

Is there something wrong with cases from 2017 because it doesn't seem to just be us.

It's a waiting game. I applied in April of 2017 and will FINALLY have my interview this month. Some couples may not need an interview hence why you could see later applicants being approved first.

There is no logic to it. Not to negate the frustration, because your situation is the only one you have to experience, but there are many who have and are waiting much longer, so don't necessarily consider yourself odd man out or that something is wrong with your case. It's unfortunately the nature of this beast.

The only assurance I have to offer you is that every single person I know who has had to wait an astronomical length of time is...once you ARE at the finish line, you do not regret a single moment you spent waiting, as it will be very much worth it.

Håll ut, y'all.

I agree I also think it's unfair some states take 3 years and some 4 months..

Yes - it is unfair. It seems to me that the new processing times have just given USCIS another way to push you off for a ridiculous amount of time.

I understand your point but I think it's easy to isolate yourself and get tunnel vision to what's going on ahead of you. That's pretty much what's happening to me, I'm fully aware there are people who filed around the same time as me going through my field office that are also still waiting - but it's the people who have been approved or interviewed who filed far ahead of me that I'm focusing on. I think that's pretty much human nature, unfortunately.

I hope you're right!

Well for the Seattle office they have been since mid April not moving with interviews..I am still under the waiting time (11 to 17 months for us) but still, if they keep not giving interviews it will go up to your 20 months.

Sounds like you're in a similar situation to me unfortunately. Have you noticed many 2018 filers going through your local office getting their interviews scheduled?

Is Orlando seeing much in the way of 2018 filers, or is it just progressing along as normal?

there are definitely people who filed in later 2017 and earlier 2018 got their interviews scheduled or case approved already. But since I am not adjusting from K1, and most of them are, I can't tell what should be normal for my case.

I'm adjusting from K-1 and we've heard nothing since September 2017 when our status changed to 'Case Ready to be Scheduled for Interview' - I've been on a bit of a forum-wide rant the past day or so about it, but it's just so frustrating to see. It seems to have somewhat died down now and I'm wondering if USCIS have realized they've made an error somewhere because I haven't seen any 2018 filers scheduled for an interview in a couple of days - but to sort of highlight how ridiculous it was this time last week, someone I speak to on this forum filed the same time as me roughly (July 2017) through Washington DC - hasn't heard anything since then, someone filed AOS through the same field office, adjusting from the same visa (K-1) and they filed in March 2018 and have their interview already. They waited six weeks in one of, what is commonly regarded, as the busiest field offices in the country.

Yeah - I said earlier in this thread that I'm almost certain there's something going on with USCIS' systems because a similar thing happened to us, USCIS seemed to be scheduling people from late June 2017 for their interviews, but for the past month or so - nothing. Then the interview dates started rolling in for January 2018 filers onwards so it's like they've completely skipped 6 months. That's why I think there's a glitch in their system somewhere.

I managed to get an infopass appointment for tomorrow, so I plan to ask them about the recent approvals and why our case has seemingly been left behind.

Had the InfoPass appointment. The Immigration Officer I spoke to honestly didn't give me much to go off, but she was nice enough. She give me a detailed update on my case, the last update was March 14th for us where the NBC requested an interview date from the Philadelphia field office, and she said that each week Philadelphia will open their schedule to the NBC and then take cases in order.

I asked about why January 18 filers are getting interviewed first, and she had no idea in all honesty - she said in her experience that hasn't happened. And I didn't take this as her blowing me off because she looked genuinely surprised when I said January 2018 filers, she actually said 'do you mean 2017?'
