lol I think you're getting a little bit Jason Bourne with all this.

Anyways, after talking it over and analyzing everything we do agree its a big risk. Best to wait until after U.S. marriage and do the ceremony after.

The only concern we have is that AOS applications are taking about 12-18 months or *more* to process and that's an awfully long time to wait before the ceremony especially if we put down a deposit on things such as the venue and shrine. I think she should plan the ceremony in Japan and leave things sort of set for when we return after our legal marriage in the US.

So I have a semi-related question; how likely is it to receive advance parole to do this ceremony and is it likely there would be any problems upon return? I know leaving US while waiting for a green card is a big non no without permission but does the Advance parole sort of guarantee you're okay? I think if its easy to receive advance parole we can apply for it as soon as we apply for AOS and use it to have our ceremony in Japan as the family wants.

True, The chances of an employee really even caring is slim to none. If a human actually looks at the email you will be lucky. From what I have seen on hear getting a actual response from any embassy is pretty difficult, and it is usually a canned response to keep you happy more than likely send by a computer as an automated response. But post back if you get what seems like an actual answer from a human, I was going to do the same thing and have a small ceremony myself and after reading the posts on here decided it wasn't worth the risks. I was kinda bummed out to, and If you search my posts you will see where I believe you are either married or not, there is no grey area, but I also realized how screwed up this whole process is in my opinion, and if just one person a year said they were denied for being "Too Married" I wouldn't sweat it, but I'm from Vegas, and I play the odds, and based on how many people post about it here, the numbers are not in my favor. Plus how many people get denied for this we don't know about, not everyone going thru this process is a member of visa journey. But good news is, most people have said on here after you apply for AOS, you have your AP/EAD card in 90-100 days or so.

Paying cash, internet cafe, ip blocker.... if the government was so concerned about this, they should just monitor visajourney forums for topics like this.

What makes you think they don't?

I am not doubting that they don't.

Your original statement disagrees with this most recent statement.  Your first post infers that the government "should" just monitor..."if the government was so concerned" Therefore, you don't believe that they are monitoring VJ.  Trust me, they have been and will continue to do so.  And don't go blaming the "current administration", it isn't President Trumps fault.  This has been going on since Al Gore invented the internet. hahaha
