So i am back with some good news :) Last October my adjustment of status case was denied so I applied for motion to reconsider (I-290B). After 89 days of waiting i finally get an update online saying my case has been reopened and I am to receive a letter in the mail. I hope this is it, I hope to God it is the good news i have been waiting for.

Hello, guys. I have a question.

I did my medical test on March 2018. If my interview didn’t come before this March, do I need to do the medical test again? Or I see the new policy that now the medical report is valid for two years, does that affect me ? Thanks.

It depends on the IO
I personally wouldn't do anything unless they ask since those medicals can cost quite a bit.
But it might be smart to find yourself a civil surgeon in advance in case IO does ask- that way, you can go get it done the next day and be on your way to your approval within a week

But our medical test only is valid  for a year right?

That's the idea
But we have seen that that all depends on who's reviewing it

The validity of the medical is one year, but to the effect that you need to file AOS within a year, not that you have to have the GC interview within a year. @Tomalley

If you happen to get a new or just misinformed IO (like @emekus94 said, all depends on who's reviewing it) you can show that person the regulations in print. See p. 7 in the I-693 Instructions Form (https://www.uscis.gov/i-693). All requirements marked in green. Also, IO might require you do redo your medical if your civil surgeon back home messed up your vaccination sheet, which happens.

"If you were admitted as a:

A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or

B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and

C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:

    1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year of an overseas medical examination, and:

     (a) The panel physician did not find a class A medical condition during your overseas examination; or

     (b) The panel physician did find a class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility, and you have complied with the terms and conditions of the waiver.

   (2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the Part 7. Vaccination Record completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you must submit Parts 1., 2., 4., and 7. of Form I-693."

How to check if vaccination sheet is OK, ages 19-49 (credit to @Nich-Nick)

  • MMR (two are required but if you have "insufficient time interval" Code B in the last column, then you get a waiver)
  • Td or Tdap or DT or DTP or DtaP (One date must be no longer than 10 years ago)
  • Varicella (Either a check by "Vaccine" with a date, OR a check by "Varicella History" if you had chickenpox. History gets you a waiver)
  • Influenza (during flu season) If it is not flu season, the waiver in the last column is Code F.
  • Everything else marked "not age appropriate" Code A, insufficient time interval B, not flu season F, contraindicated C...things that allow a waiver.

It should also be marked complete and signed + dated by civil surgeon.

Does that mean , as long as I applied i485 within one year after my medical test, I don’t need to take a new medical test? So what does that medical is valid for one year mean ? Thanks!

Our file date was May 29, 2018. We had our interview last week. 😃😃😃

Note: One person showed up without her petitioner and had to reschedule. It’s required that the petitioner and immigrant both come to the interview.

My wife, her 2 children and I were called back to the office of the immigration officer. He swore us in and then asked how we met, when the family arrived and a few basic questions. He asked my wife and her children the yes/no questions from the AOS application. Then he asked for proof of our marriage relationship. We showed him pictures, bank statements, utility bills, insurance etc. He asked me if I still worked at the same place and I said yes. I had pay stubs etc as proof but he didn’t ask for them. He said he was recommending our approval and congratulated us.

We received their green cards one week later in the mail. If you’re signed up for alerts in uscis you will get several alerts. A tracking number will be sent in one of the alerts.
