Hi everyone! For those of you who have received RFEs/RFIEs and responded to them promptly, how long did it take for you to receive your EAD

I tried to expedite over the phone with USCIS and via our congressman about a month ago with a job offer in hand. All that happened is I got an RFIE about a week later (which we were expecting since I remembered immediately after submitting that we forgot to submit my husband's tax transcript). I responded to the RFIE the same day, with next day delivery. They updated my case status for the adjustment to "received response to RFIE requested." The whole ordeal took a week from when they sent it to when they received our response.

This was two weeks ago. Since then, nothing. My congressman's office made two inquiries, with no response from USCIS. When I called USCIS directly, they said I am still within normal processing time, so they can't help me. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? I was supposed to start working this week, but clearly, that's not happening :( I would at least like to give my employer a timeframe of when I could start, but I know that's hard too since the process is so unpredictable.

I had an RFE for my Birth certificate and it took me 6 months for the EAD

Hello everyone!

I checked on uscis website estimates for AOS 12 month and more for the most office in the States. I see lots of people got approved just by a few months. How come?

Thanks!

- Every office is different, and some are much faster than others (others are much slower)

- The USCIS estimates on the web site are the range from 50% being complete to ~90% being complete, so 50% of cases are actually finished before the lower bound of that range

Thank you!

I see lots of people here get approval just in few months. There are some topic for June or even July got approved just in 4-5 months. It looks great!

We received our EAD/AP approval notice on Oct 10. 😃The card was mailed on Oct 11. Our status changed on Oct 11 to give us a tracking number with USPS. Then, we were surprised to receive both the EAD card and SSN card on Monday Oct 15. The EAD card has an AP number assigned to it - so only one card is needed.  In all steps we received text/email alerts but some came from uscis.gov and some came from my.uscis.gov. I think it helps to be registered with both.

Wife received her Green Card today. Does it come with a social number or do we have to go to the SS office? Can they give here a social on the spot, or does she have to wait for that too? Thanks in advance!

The SSN is not automatic since they are two different government agencies. When you apply for the EAD, there is a check box for USCIS to forward the information to the SSN office but not for the green card. You and your wife can take her green card to you local SSN office and apply. You might check with the SSN office by phone to make sure you have all of the correct documents. I believe that the SSN card will be mailed to you in a couple of days after applying.
