It's not that easy in some states. At least no with the driver license. I got my ssn when I came. Tried to get driver license and they asked to show them at least my EAD

I got my RFE in three days. Maybe you can schedule a infopass with your local office or ask your congressman to help.

That's true. Not every state is the same. Well, I even had my US driver's licence but I was out of the country for more than a year and now they didn't let me to RENEW it without EAD... :) (Maryland welcome to..:P) Im gonna finally go this week.

Hi everyone! For those of you who have received RFEs/RFIEs and responded to them promptly, how long did it take for you to receive your EAD

I tried to expedite over the phone with USCIS and via our congressman about a month ago with a job offer in hand. All that happened is I got an RFIE about a week later (which we were expecting since I remembered immediately after submitting that we forgot to submit my husband's tax transcript). I responded to the RFIE the same day, with next day delivery. They updated my case status for the adjustment to "received response to RFIE requested." The whole ordeal took a week from when they sent it to when they received our response.

This was two weeks ago. Since then, nothing. My congressman's office made two inquiries, with no response from USCIS. When I called USCIS directly, they said I am still within normal processing time, so they can't help me. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? I was supposed to start working this week, but clearly, that's not happening :( I would at least like to give my employer a timeframe of when I could start, but I know that's hard too since the process is so unpredictable.

Aww, that sucks - I'm so sorry for your long wait! :( With everyone getting their cards now, I was really hoping the rfes don't set us back that much.

Hey Guys,

We had our Green Card interview today at the Detroit Field Office. Interview was at 11:20 am and we got there 11:00 am. Got through the security and sat in line for about 45 mins. They called us both in at 11:45am. The lady was super sweet and said our application was one of the most detailed and well organized that she’s seen (We used SimpleCitizen automated data entry system and edited and compiled all the PDFs to be uploaded ourselves in Adobe). Our application was about 350+ pages. She said she has absolutely no questions (surprisingly because neither of us are employed. We used my wife’s parents’ income which was over 6 figures combined. Plus, I didn’t have a birth certificate so I sent a hand written letter about why I can’t produce the document). So she asked how we met and we answered that and then asked for our full names and if we were married before and if we had any children ever. Then she asked the mandatory criminal background questions and after that she said this 2 year conditional card will expire in two years and we should apply before it does for extension. Asked us to sign that sheet acknowledging it and said “you guys are the sweetest, you sent an immaculate application, know the immigrant visa details and are done right before lunch hour, I love you guys and I’m approving you right now as of October 10, 2018.”

We said thank you and left.

الحمدلله we applied on May 23, 2018 and our priority date was May 24, 2018. Less than 5 months later, the GC was approved and we were told the card will be there before next week ends.

So that was our experience. Thank you guys for reading and I hope the best for each and everyone of you and that you have an even easier time with your applications!

Congratulations Buddy :)

My wife's I765 was approved yesterday Oct 10. The uscis.gov website never updated but I received an alert from https://my.uscis.gov/. Our receipt date was May 29 according to ucsis.gov but it was June 4 according to https://my.uscis.gov/.

Also, the visa journey estimate was correct for the I-765 and I-131.
