Is it common to get an interview before receiving the employment card? Because i still have no EAD and now that i know an interview is coming up im shocked and very excited 😊

My passport and EAD card. You can also download, fill in and print the application form beforehand, which is what I did just to save me from having to fill it manually by hand at SSA. All the best!

 

TIMELINE FOR AOS from B1/B2 visa

 

05/21/2018 – Sent I-485, I-765 and I-131 packets via Fedex (Chicago Lockbox)
05/23/2018 – Packet delivered to USCIS (0 days).
05/29/2018 – Received text/email notification NOA1 (6 days)
06/08/2018 – Received biometrics appointment letter/I-797C hardcopy in mail (16 days). Priority Date on NOA says 06/01/18.

06/18/2018 – Biometrics done (26 days)

06/21/2018 – Case status changed to "Case is Ready to be scheduled for an interview" (29 days)

06/22/2018 – Courtesy letter (reminder to bring I-693 medical report to interview) received in mail (30 days). Letter dated 06/14/18

 

07/10/2018 – Submitted change of address

Just hoping that since we answered "no" to the first time ss# is produced tbat it won't be seen as misrepresentation since it was our first time asking for a ssn but I guess nbc might have asked for it when the ead was approved. 

 

The SSA officer said someone made/asked for a new SSN for my hubby the same day his ead/ap was approved but we didn't know that until after the "interview" 

 

So, if you will go to the SSA let them know that you might already have because you did ask it in the aos packet.

There is a check box on the 765 to forward the information to the SS office when the EAD is approved. Maybe that was checked on your application.

It is not very common but I have seen a number of cases like yours.  In some cases they don't even bother to send the applicant the EAD card because if wouldn't serve any purpose after your green card interview (providing all goes well with the interview).

I did check it. I still thought that we need to personally go to the ss office. So we did. Hopefully, this misunderstanding doesnt bite us in the butt..

Just got an update that my EAD card has been mailed to me, yay! I also received the notice of action papers today in the mail, but one thing made me sick to my stomach. It does say that if you leave USA and you had unlawful presence before (I overstayed over a year) you may be barred from admission even if you obtained advanced parole. What! I know that the officer determines and theres no guarantee, but is it really possible to get banned if you previously overstayed, meaning that that would be the reason for denial? I havent heard situations like this happening and it does say everywhere online that leaving US with advanced parole will not trigger the ban but that letter kinda made me worried now 😕

I received the pink sheet for the RFE. As expected, they are requesting more docs from my sponsor. I will send them the docs pretty soon.... and hopefully i get an interview scheduled for late November or early December of this year
