My husband got an RFE asking for a copy of the birth certificate. We already provided a sealed copy of his family record (Turkey's version of a birth certificate) along with a translation and a translation letter, but it appears that they did not accept that as a birth certificate and want us to include a letter from a government authority stating that the family record is proof of his birth. 

 

ALSO it's been over a month since we filed and we still haven't received a biometrics letter. I called today and was told the wait can be up to 6 months?

That's weird, but I assume you will get your biometric appointment letter once you answer your RFE. And one more thing, if you provided the birth certificate together with the notary translation, what does it mean? Did USCIS lose your documents?

Even though the family cert was stamped etc., we still got the RFE. We're going to call the Turkish embassy tomorrow to see if we can get a birth certificate from them.

I would recomend calling again andmaking sure. Usually bio appt comes after a month...and it cant be missed. Just make 100% sure

Question for you.

You wrote in your timeline that your bio appt. date is 6/19. However, it was done on 6/11.

How did you get to move the date up?

We walked in early and they took us.

We notify the ASC when we got there. The guard was so nice and the lady that attend us. They said everything was sent off

Got an RFIE for financial information - my wife meets the 125% + some, but they have asked for proof of assets. confused.

We had the biometrics today. Once we found the place, we were in and out in less than 45 minutes. I was looking for a separate office building or something, I guess, but the place was right next to Big Lots in a run-down shopping mall. I see where all our money goes

What sort of documentation did you send to prove the income requirement?

We sent employer letter, and pay stubs since she started in February - I had my biometrics done today in exactly the same building!
