I don't think there's any harm in doing it after NOA2. I had mine done just before my I-130 approval knowing that it's good for a year.

I was confused by that because some people were saying only good for 90 days.  Its good for a year in USCIS terms? Or the Embassy's terms?  She got hers 4/3/18 and we are waiting for a case number (6 weeks now).

It depends on your embassy, but unless the Mexico specific document guidelines on the NVC site say that it's good for less than 1 year, then the default is a 1 year "expiration". There technically is no expiration, at least not on mine, but it's how long it's valid for in the eyes of the embassy.

PCC is valid upto a year unless and otherwise state in the report. At the time of interview it must be valid.

Major update on our petition today....

they went from saying....

"please wait 8 weeks for a case number to be assigned"

to

"there is no specific time frame for us to assign a case number by"

(so expect a case number sometime between 'now', and 'the end of time').

NOA1: 7th June 2017

NOA2: 31st January 2018

Sent from USCIS: 12th February 2018

Received by NVC: 16th February 2018

Started telling me they never received petition since: 22nd march 2018

Started saying they magically received petition: 26th March 2018

"there is no time frame for case number assignment": 18th May 2018

Case number assigned & fees sent: 22nd May 2018

Fees "PAID": 27th May

AOS & DS-260 with Civil Documents submitted online: 3rd June 2018

Case Complete: 14th June 2018

Received email with interview date scheduled: 12th July 2018.

Interview @ Dublin embassy: 2nd August 2018 DENIED!  (421 days since NOA1).

(incorrect spelling and missing middle name on police certs)

31st August: did my 2nd medical cert, because 1st one expired.

14th September: official APPROVED.

Currently: waiting for DPD courier to tell me my visa is ready for collection at my local depot.

It might be time for some congressional action on your case.  This is just baloney that they received it at NVC in February and still have no case number?  That is just wrong.

Been there, done that, don't miss it at all... Don't panic... It's normal, whatever the hell normal means in all this.

Have you been asked for names/DOBs yet when you call?

Yeah they ask for our names and DOB.

in 3 weeks time, it'll be a year since we sent our petition to USCIS, very frustrating!! they keep changing the dates and BS script they are reading.

all i hear is.... 'Please wait up to 8 weeks for us to come up with another load of **** to tell you'

If they started asking your names and DOB, it's a good thing, it means they added your case to the system.

I think what they meant with the no timeframe comment is that there's no exact timeframe for the system to generate a case number. That's what an agent told me a day before I received my welcome email yesterday. Basically he told me our case was added to the system on May 8th and to give it one more week and call back if nothing happened. Lo and behold, email came the very next day so 9 days after the case was entered.

So hopefully yours is coming soon! Try asking when your case was entered to the electronic system.

It's such a joke that they made you wait this much though. <_<

Hopefully you're not the special cookie where this isn't true after waiting 13 weeks already... but historically, what peachouille has said is true. Most have received their case numbers within 7-10 days of being asked names/DOBs. Hope you get it soon, definitely infuriating process.

How long does it take to get a case complete for pivot cases right now? Did we have any recently?

And do you still call NVC during that time to find out what the current status is? I was quite happy to not call anymore.

9weeks in our case

Do you know if France is pivot or non pivot?

And do you think that the speed to get a case number is faster for some service center?

Did they say "We received your case on *whatever* please wait up to 8 weeks..."? If they did, you can say "It's been more than 8 weeks." Then maybe they can "elevate your case" or something. I mean, what speech do they give you on the phone?

Nop, Call NVC, they not received yet in the building, when Representative confirm that we received your documents that's what your scan date is.

Hi!

Thanks again! So I didn’t get to the point to call them today (was going to Monday), but just checked the “visa application status” and after 8 days (including a weekend) they signed for it, the status changed to “At NVC”. It says follow the instructions listed in the welcome letter. We have already done everything was listed, so now just hoping that all i-864 were good, and for the interview rather sooner than later.. :)
