Skyzee, I know how you feel... You are almost there... It will happen but calling even more will not make it any faster or slower. Calling once or twice a day is enough. To tell you about my last day of calling about the case number: The day before I received it, I was told it could potentially take another six weeks. And I felt so deflated, so frustrated. It would have been so much easier to hear "someone is working on it and it can only be a matter of ......... (days)............(few more hours). But no!

You'll get the number - do you have all the NVC required documents ready? Are these not exceeding 2 MB? Do you have all the information ready that you need to fill into the DS 260? All your previous addresses? I am always surprised to see others waiting for their number and then taking up to a month to deliver/submit the documents.

Thanks. I agree, probably nothing will happen, but I'd rather hear it from someone I haven't been talking to for the past 12 weeks even if it's a fake supervisor. If nothing else, at least I get to direct my anger and frustration to the appropriate channels.

I've had everything ready for months, including even the file name formatting that's listed on their website. Just waiting for case number and subsequently moving on with life... ffs

Ha - I didn't even know about the file formatting. Just checked it given your comment. Oh well, one file went out without being properly formatted. I don't think this should be an issue but we'll see.

I actually don't understand why they don't allow people to self prioritize their IR1 visas, marking their own urgency, and prioritizing the cases accordingly. It's true that most people would mark as urgent, but it's also true that people seem to get case number and sit on it for months because they're in no hurry to move to the US given that they probably already live together elsewhere. For us suckers who are physically separated from our spouses for the full year it takes to get the visa, too bad for us, sit in the same pool as everyone else.

I did manage to get a hold of a supervisor after calling for my third time today, and frankly, the experience was the same as talking to a rep ie. expectedly useless. In a nutshell: "Blah blah blah our lives are so difficult because of a high volume of petitions, you live a life of luxury so you need to be patient."

*shrugs* At least I feel a little better after voicing out my long list frustrations with the system.

The rep himself was surprisingly empathetic and kind though which is always a treat when I get one (increasingly rare nowadays), stating that our account looks like it got flagged as overdue starting yesterday. I find it completely laughable that we get excited over being asked names/DOBs. Seems like that's what life has boiled down to nowadays. Can't say I'll even be happy when I get case number, maybe more just a relieved exasperation as in "about time, folks".

Here you go: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/establish-financial-support/docs-scan-faqs.html

How should I identify the scan files I create?

Each scan file must be named as it is created.  Choose a file name that includes the following information:

Your NVC case number;

The full name of the applicant whose document you scanned; and

The document name or form number.

For example:

ABC2009123456_John_Doe_DS-3032.pdf
