It will take 1 to 4 weeks to receive Nvc from the day they send from uscis. I called nvc and they said it will takes upto 8 weeks to get case number from the day they receive file from uscis.

This is my experience also. I initially submitted the DS-261, and after 2 weeks of waiting I called to find out what's taking so long. The nice person on the phone reviewed the DS-261 and said to wait one week. Well, after waiting one week, I called NVC again. They said to wait another week. So, over 3 weeks and counting. IV fee still not open. Meanwhile, Others who received their case number after us have already gotten CC. The wait is so frustrating.

Update: Woke up to an email from NVC this morning. IV finally opened up! Paid it right away. I really needed some good news!

You can call them and see if they have a case number it’s almost a month since they received it

My daily calls of %!@#!$ joy to NVC. Tried twice, can't even get escalated to a supervisor because they're "busy". Going to keep calling throughout today until I get a hold of someone that isn't a front line rep. Have to say, takes the govt to take the politeness out of me.

Skyzee, I know how you feel... You are almost there... It will happen but calling even more will not make it any faster or slower. Calling once or twice a day is enough. To tell you about my last day of calling about the case number: The day before I received it, I was told it could potentially take another six weeks. And I felt so deflated, so frustrated. It would have been so much easier to hear "someone is working on it and it can only be a matter of ......... (days)............(few more hours). But no!

You'll get the number - do you have all the NVC required documents ready? Are these not exceeding 2 MB? Do you have all the information ready that you need to fill into the DS 260? All your previous addresses? I am always surprised to see others waiting for their number and then taking up to a month to deliver/submit the documents.
