Sad / Depressed waiting...

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to this horrific visa process, and trying to bring my husband over from Egypt. Does anyone else find themselves sad / depressed without their partners? I understand the importance of screening people before they enter the country, but the waiting is just terrible. There are so many families that are like us, just waiting to be reunited, and depending on someone, somewhere to put a stamp on a paper or click an "OK" in the computer.  It's just a really sad feeling that we are at the mercy of this system, which seems to be unorganized, overworked, understaffed and outdated.  How do you all deal with the sadness? I just miss my husband so much. :(

sorry if i am rude but everyone over here is going through or has gone through the process. This process is not easy and was not meant to be easy. People being sad and missing loved ones is not a new story here.  Immigration is not a joke and no Embassy or State department sympathize. A few years back, there was this couple (don't remember exactly the country and name) but he husband was USC and they were undergoing CR1. Husband died in an accident in between and wife wanted to visit for the funeral. I still remember how we all tried to advise her and support her and guide her so she could come for the funeral. I remember almost every knowledgeable person from this forum racked up their brain. However, her request for the visa to come to the US for the funeral was denied.

As other said stay busy just don't focus on this process or else you will lose your peace

Keeping myself busy couldn't be possible after 2 years of waiting. I had to quit my job. I couldn't deal with people always questioning my marriage, or giving me their ideas although they know nothing about marriage visa processes.. They weren't trying to be mean but still it was too hard for me to answer people.

Now still waiting and looking for jobs but I don't know what to tell companies. I can't just say hey I want to work but I'm going to leave this place maybe next month or maybe in 6 months or maybe in 1 year to go live with my husband. If I'm honest I wont get the job, If I hide it I wont be hired.

I know how you feel, all I can say is that I hope you and everybody and me we all get our approvals and get to be together with our spouses asap.

My husband always tells me that this waiting made us stronger. Now I have a strong feeling that I don't want to spend even a single day without him for the rest of my life, once I move there.

:) which I think I wouldn't feel this strong, if my marriage wasn't long distance.

I don't know how I can comfort you but please try your hardest to stay strong, he is missing you just as much as you're missing him AND you really can overcome any problem as long as you have this love.

Seek part-time or temporary/seasonal work with a stated end-date?  You should find more open-minded/flexible employers that way, since it's a job already advertised for a short period of time.  Good luck!

Cant really add more that what was already said. Keep it strong, you are not the only one.

"There are so many families that are like us, just waiting to be reunited, and depending on someone, somewhere to put a stamp on a paper or click an "OK" in the computer."

Keep in mind that US Officers doesnt only stamp your passport or click ok, there is an entire process behind, investigation, analysis etc....you should be aware of that. There are tons of frauds and wrong stuff going on and that contributes to the process delay.

Aw yes we all feel the same!

I'm mostly ok, I work a lot, have a lot going on etc to keep busy. I get the odd day when I'm stressed about the whole thing!

My partner is very strong, so that helps me to just get on with it and when it's approved, it's approved! What else can you do?

I agree with what someone said about work, my boss practically says goodbye to me every single day at work! Haha! I does get annoying for sure! A few people have also said things like "you must know when you are leaving, you just don't want to say". It is hard to give friends, family and work timeframe estimates all the time. I got sick of answering questions, so now I just say "end of the year maybe"

As for informing employers, you don't have to tell them at hiring point that you are leaving! All you have to give is a month's notice, so it's fine!
