Hello to everyone ! New to this forum did some digging around and wanted to ask others with more experience about the process.

My application was received on January 31st.

I was on the UsCIS website and when I saw the processing time 5-7 months I thought that was in regards to having everything finished... Not just for approoval, now from what I read its the wait time to just get approved.

I got a letter letting me know that they got my application, so my question is now what?

I get a letter if I am approved or rejected or more proof is needed? Is there any sort of interview I have to go through here in US? Trying to find basically a step by step with everything.

I was planning on going to Ukraine this summer like I always do, to visit some family and my fiance, and since I was expecting 5-7 months for the whole thing I got tickets going to Ukraine already because there was a really good deal for beggining of June to mid September.

If I get any sort of letters here while I am away about the application my sister can tell me about it and help me sending anything I need out for me. Any chance I can get all of it done before I leave Ukraine so me and my finance can fly back together if all goes well?

You've send the k1 packet but you're in the US right now? Once the petition is approved you have to go back to your home country for the medical exam and interview in the embassy. Those can't be done in the US.

Yes you get a letter when approved. But it mighy be weeks or months before you're allowed to schedule your embassy interview. Or the embassy will schedule it for you, depends on the country.

Why are you in the US right now? What visa did you use to enter?

Let me explain my self better lol I am originally from Ukraine , I was born there and so we're my parents, I am a US Citizen for couple years now since I've lived in US for 13 years. I am filing for my finance to come to US and live here with me, she is from same home town in Ukraine as me , we were practically neighbors.

Ok.

Well you don't go through any interviews, only your foreign fiance does. After the petition is approved it will be some time before she can go to the embassy and do her medial. Those are things she needs to take care of. You just provide the affidavit of support if you didn't include it in the original petition.

I wanted to go to the interview with her in Ukraine. So that there are no questions unaswered so they have both of us there. And I really wanted us to go back to US together because she is afraid of flying alone and her English isnt very strong so I could really help her out at the enttance to US.

My fiancee was pulled into secondary inspection upon her arrival, so I was not able to "help" her at the POE.  They have interpreters available to assist

YMMV

They might not allow you to take the interview with her.

Plus after the interview everyone goes through the Administrative process - it might take a day and she'll have a visa in hand few days after the interview. But it also might take weeks or months - so don't make any solid plans on bringing her back with you.

Very rare that they let the petitioner (You) attend the interview. Not an option, but maybe someone who has been thru that embassy can say for sure.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

Not every embassy is the same.  In Kiev the USC is allowed

Good to know. problem is good luck scheduling a visit that coincides with the interview time, unless you can book a expensive ticket last minute. I wish it was like that at more embassy's, might make things easier.

So basically if I want us to go together back I have to just wait and see how the process goes and stay in Ukraine until it is all done? I work from my computer so missing work isn't an issue. Just trying to figure out best way to do this and what to expect since they got it in January.

If you can spend a month there or so, wait until noa2, and the NVC process is almost done, then you can look for a flight. Check the embassy specific forums to get a basic timeline for how long from NVC process to the interview will take. You should be able to estimate interview within a 2-3 week window.

What is NOA2?
