NVC received my paperwork in November 2017 and my case was completed October 4th, 2018 so around 11 months

Just for a case complete? Not even the interview!? Did you still have to wait in que to get an appointment? Because if that’s how it is it’s taking 20 months to get an appointment 😳

Hi! We were married January 2018, filed immediately, did everything perfect, interview date is this July 30th. I know it sounds unbearable. Wishing you a better timeline than us!

Unfortunately yes. My case was completed October 4th, 2018 and I heard back the last week of June that the interview will be July 31st, 2019. From the date NVC received our paperwork to the interview date it’s 20 months

Is your case an IR1?

We received our appointment letter today! Our case closed on October 17, 2018. Our appointment is for August 23, 2019.

For those of you who live in the US, did you travel with your spouse/child/family member to their appointment? I start a new job the week of our appointment, but I can’t imagine not going. I was thinking would it be better for me to meet him to bring him back into the US or should I travel with him to Mexico to make sure he gets settled. Let me know your thoughts!

Congratulations!!!! My husbands appointment is the 30th of this month. Our lawyer recommended I go to Juárez to support my spouse but I won’t be able to go into the embassy with him. He believes it looks better to interviewers if the last time you saw your spouse was across the street in the hotel. That said, it doesn’t seem to be a common question they ask. And, Juárez isn’t exactly Puerto Vallarta. I’m not crazy about the risk. To be positive, Most people say they feel safe in the area and Juárez is now considered safer than Cabo. I’m flying from San Francisco into El Paso then taking a taxi from the El Paso airport to the hotel across the street from the embassy in Juárez. ($120 one way) Congratulations again!!

Definitely think it is safer than it was before! It also seems more Americanized!

The most dangerous part of Juarez around the consulate is crossing the street to get to the mall.  The best part is the old diesel busses that run by all day. We made the same trip from SFO to El Paso then taxi across.  We paid $95 for the taxi and i thought that was steep, but if its a safe ride it's worth every penny.

FYI Cerveceria 19 is not a brewery but the food is quite good for the price.

Could anyone tell me if they have gotten their appointments and how long it took from CC please? I just got my CC and would like to estimate how long we have yet to go.

Hello Dalila! Congrats for your CC!

We had our CC in May and no appointment yet.

On Facebook groups I saw that some people with CC in October 2018 just got their appointments for next month. Seems like we need to be patient 😉

Our CC was October 17, 2018. My husband has his appointment yesterday (August 23, 2019). Thank God he was approved, just waiting for the final paperwork to cross back to the US! Good luck!!

I figured for the pure sake of money that the consulate would have the incentive to get spousal visas churned out so couples can be charged for a CR1 (conditional) after two years in the states and an IR1 permanent instead of letting almost 2 years go by before the actual interview takes place.  I see it as USCIS losing out on money on those extra fees that they could have obtained on couples.
