Appoint wait time in CDJ Mexico?

Has anyone heard of someone successfully getting a tourist visa while waiting the additional 8-10 months for the Juarez appointment? There is only a 1-week wait for a tourist visa appointment in Guadalajara. Online research indicates you can hold more than 1 visa type at a time. I understand the fear the US has with a tourist visa is that the applicant will want to stay... The "pitch" during his tourist visa interview would be that due to the long 8-10 month wait for the immigration interview, this would give him the ability to make several short trips and alleviate the burden of me continuing to travel to Mexico. I've made 20 trips to Mexico in the last year and a half plus we've made two trips to Canada and one to Europe. We've been doing everything "just right" and wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize our immigration visa process... Obviously, we'd follow the rules by the book and wouldn't overstay.

Thoughts? Would this work?

PS: Thank you Lulu01 and Ben & Katy for your help!

We have heard of  tourist visas being denied for having a spouse in the US. but never of any being approved. We were advised that once we initiated the immigrant visa application, we were declaring intent to immigrate, and thereby, by definition, were no longer eligible for a tourist visa which requires  evidence that you are NOT intending to immigrate.

I am not an expert, but I think you might be throwing away the tourist visa application fee.  Also, remember that having a tourist visa in hand is not a guarantee that they would let him into the US.   Admission is still at the discretion of the admitting officer.   (In our case, the tourist visa was still valid, but we were advised not to try to use it.  Instead, like you, we met in Mexico and Canada and the end of the wait did finally come and we were glad we had not done anything to jeopardize the process.)

We feel your pain.

Best to you both!

We tried in Hermosillo but they told her since she had  been approved (by USCIS) for a CR-1 they weren't going to issue one.

Just confirming with you all - no appointments available at Juárez, right? I’m not showing

How is it possible that there are no interview dates available? What are we expected to do?

The embassy is very backed up. There were no appointments since I started looking about 6 days ago. However, one opened up for April 22nd yesterday. I see you’re applying for a K-1 like me. Have you completed your DS-160?

I have also read here about spouses that live with their american spouse overseas and have no intent to file to immigrate to the states and still get denied.  Its a crock because not every USC/foreign spouse couple have the desire to come to the United States outside of maybe visiting in-laws in the states or doing pure tourism.

My spouse who I met in Puerto Penasco has a friend in Penasco that was married to an american.  They lived in Penasco together and he has businesses (bars) in the area.  He provided a detailed letter that he was maintaining her financially, showed his business records, his mexican residence visa and thankfully she was able to get approved for a tourist visa so she could go to disneyland with her american husband and kids that she had with her previous husband who passed away long ago.  Even for her who had no desire to come live here went through alot of scrutiny for her visa at the interview.  Even though she had her own house in Mexico, kids in private schools in Mexico, husband with all his ties in Penasco still had to sweat it out.
