Does anyone have an idea of the appointment wait time in CJD for a IR-1 spouse visa? They received our packet Jan 29 and I received an email March 5 that paperwork was all complete and he is in line for an appointment slot. Nothing since them.  It’s a straight up spouse visa, no waiver or complications in the case. It’s been a long haul, married 10 years, I lived in Mexico 8 of those. Had to come back to work in the US two years ago for financial affidavit purposes.  Then we had a 9 month delay getting Mexico to give us the the police report cleared of something that was incorrect. At least as a teacher I can go down to spend 7 weeks with him in late June, so we’re lucky I guess.  Keep hoping every day....

Thank you so much for sharing your timeline! The ones on the timeline section are confusing to figure out, and the format is difficult to maneuver. Dumb question: when it’s “case closed” does that mean they’ll send me another email besides the one telling me we’re i. the queue waiting for the appointment. I keep seeing cc and guess we haven’t gotten that yet? Thanks again!

Hey Dear,

CDJ is extremely busy. 3 months from cc to interview letter, 4 months from cc to interview date.

Our cc was 1/23/18

Interview letter: 4/2/18

Interview date: 5/29/18

Hope this help!

"In the queue waiting" means case closed and you are now waiting for the consulate to schedule your interview at CDJ. You dont have to do anything at this point, but wait. Based on what you have shared, you will most likely receive a letter/email in June, for a July interview. You can start calling NVC late May early June asking if you have been scheduled for an interview  because they also tell you over the phone.

Also, your status online will say, "At NVC." The next step will be to receive the letter stating that your interview has been schedule. This will come in an email form first, and approximately one week later you will receive the same information in the mail. This email/letter will have the interview date and time along with what to bring to interview (basically all the stuff NVC already has, plus original of the civil docs with copies, updated financial forms). Keep this letter, make copies, because you/spouse will need to show it at your various appointments.

..and there are no dumb questions in immigration. Better same than sorry.

God bless!

Great info to know, thank you. I’ll begin the calling game. We’ll get there. I feel better since you guys shared this with me. Doesn’t feel so much like being in limbo all alone!

Thank you so much! I feel much more in control now. I’m used to knowing and managing details in life, and this was way out of my comfort zone til now. Congrats that you’re nearing the end of the journey, so exciting!

Oh, I know what you mean. I'm he same way. It has helped us out, with me being so detailed oriented in this process and now without a lawyer. God always knows best and gives us each our spouses for a reason. 😘

Our CC came March 5. I just called NVC right before I saw this post and they said they could not give me even the tiniest little idea of when we might be having the interview. Shut me right down!  Even though I sneaky-like tried to ask multiple ways, lol!

I see you married in Cozumel! We did too, in 2008, and I lived and taught there until 2016 when I had to come back to the US to work in order to have the financials to be able to do the visa. He is there, and I am going for the summer when school is done. At least Inowcan go with him to Juarez, unless the appointments run into late August, which hopefully won’t happen.

Keeping the faith we will hear by the end of May! I’ll post when we get our notification, please do the same. 😊

ah they can be so rude, haha. They told us to just keep waiting and try calling again in a week, I figured they'd be assigning people with CC as of February. Your approval is earlier than mine, so I do hope you get a date sooner rather than later! this is crazy.

yes, Cozumel is my hometown, small world. I grew up there :) my family still lives there so I visit often! Do you miss it?

I don't think it will be in August, I'm sure at least yours will be in July, we just have to hope for the best at this point!

Totally not looking forward to Juarez, but I kind of am at the same time, hah. I just want this to be over! Totally, i'll update once I know

I miss my husband, but get to visit a week over Thanksgiving, Christmas or in February, and the last two summers. We had trouble getting his police report which is why it took longer (they had something on it when there shouldn’t have been and took 6 months to find out how to clear it and 8 months to clear it) but he cares for his 88 year old father, so we weren’t in a huge hurry. We are getting so now though. Sick of being apart. I miss everything but the heat! We have no a/c.

I taught at most of the private schools for a couple of hours each day, and when Gardner opened their secondary/prepa I went there full time. Our little house on 19 right in the middle between Gardner and El Billy’s asador!  We just rent but will always keep our place there. It’s cheap. He came from DF in the 80’s to be a divemaster, but his parents retired to the island, and he has an adult son there, as well as his sister. So we will have both worlds!

We jump in the ocean at the Money Bar and swim to Presidente and back about 3 times a week, so I’m looking forward to that. A cool down in the hot afternoon. I hope our appointment is before I leave, as it would be best if I’m there.  He’s not the most organized guy, I’m the paperwork and organization part of the team! Hopefully you and I will be messaging in a few weeks!
