For those who have had to reschedule their N400 internview, how long was the delay on your case? I know most people don’t recommend to reschedule, but if I really need to, how much longer would I be waiting for? I’ve read somewhere that it would be 1 to 3 months from the original interview date. Is that right?

What is the reason you need to reschedule? If I were you I would go. This is way too important ( at least for me) to reschedule and God knows how long they will keep you waiting to reschedule. It depends on how backlogged your local uscis office is at the moment.

I receive my interview date on Friday and its slap bang in the middle of a trip to the UK. I have flights booked and family commitments whilst I'm there. I mailed a letter asking them to reschedule the interview on Saturday and it was received by my local office this afternoon. Hopefully it won't delay my application by months.

Thread is moved from the US Citizenship main forum to the Case Progress subforum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

How did you remind them? Infopass?

USCIS received my request to re-schedule my N-400 interview on Monday and I haven't heard anything. I'm going to book an Infopass in a fortnights time to check up on the letter, if I haven't heard anything by then. Frustrating (as ever) though - a 90 minute drive to ask if they received my letter. Typical.

I called them and also my lawyer reached out to them by phone. Speaking with my lawyer it seemed like they sometime forget or slip through the cracks. Once you set up an inquiry they usually update it within 30 days. It my case it took about 10 days after the inquiry.

Thanks very much. There's no way in hell that I'm calling the misinformation line but I'll see what they say at an Infopass. Thanks :-)

I had to reschedule my Oath ceremony so not directly related to your question but I had my Oath scheduled for 4/27 which I wasn't going to make. On 4/20 I sent them a letter which I confirmed was delivered. I did not hear from them until 5/4 that they have received my request and will send a separate notice when my oath is rescheduled.

This is exactly what happened to me! I had a family scheduled to Brazil (which I hadn't gone to in two years), flights purchased for me, my husband and stepdaughter and apartments rented for three weeks. The interview happened to be in the middle of my trip. I tried to change the flights but it would cost double the price I paid for. The only options I thought I had was to cancel the trip and lose all the money or reschedule the interview (which I was really afraid to do since I seem to have bad luck with theses cases). However, I was lucky to find some cheap flights to come back in the middle of my trip just for the interview (arriving the day before and leaving after the interview) and it was cheaper than rescheduling my original trip. End of story: I had to spend extra $$, lose 3 1/2 precious days of my trip, add 20+ hours of traveling each way, all so this process didn't drag forever more! :(
