Hello VisaJourney community. I'm seeking advise on how to get extended time to obtain a waiver. Last year I was given a refusal worksheet at the US embassy here in DR with one year timeline to submit the waiver to grant my visa but one year won't be enough to obtain this waiver being that I started the process a little late so I need some more time to get it done, so guys can anyone tell me how do I go about asking for extended time, should I write a letter/email to the US Embassy, which would be the right way since I'm coming close to their deadline.  Thanks

Can you DCF in DR?

I simply write an email to US embassy saying that I'm doing my waiver with the receipt date information. They returned my email with 1 year case extension from the date they replied.

Hi holaguide, I did recently sent my local embassy an email but they have told me that I don't qualify for a waiver and that was it. I wonder why they handed me the worksheet in the first place and did not deny my visa which they refused. As I understand they refusal and denial are not the same thing. I wonder what will happen if they end up closing my case, I mean could I always apply to have it reopened or will my mom need to resubmit a new I-130 in the future.

Why are you not eligible for a waiver?

I think you need to provide more information on your case. The reason they refused your application and why you're not qualifying for the waiver. I believe there's some point that you cannot apply for the waiver but that has to be a very worst case of the action you did. Try to search for more information on the section that they gave you on your visa or case ex. 212 (6)(i) etc.
