So I just received a package from the courier. It’s a large, white, plastic envelope. I can feel what I believe is my passport inside. Do I open this plastic envelope to get my passport out or is this the envelope that must not be opened?

(London embassy if that matters?)

Did it cause any problems at POE?

I haven't gone through POE yet. But you can't fly transatlantic without a passport so you need to open that first plastic envelope. There is another official envelope inside...don't open that

Yes, you can open it to retrieve your passport, but do not the sealed envelope that is also inside.

The "do not open" envelope is usually made of paper. That one is the general shipping to you envelope and can be opened to get your passport and instructions that will be inside or attached to the "do not open" envelope.
