I'm not judging him for speaking his mind. I'm perfectly happy for him to speak his mind. I'm judging/commenting on the content of what he says when he does so. That has nothing to do with a person's skin color. That is anyone's right to an opinion when they read or learn an opinion someone else holds. We can all consider each other's opinions ridiculous. We should be supportive for each one of us to share our opinions, but we can still respond to them.

 

The only person making it about race here is you. The only person telling people to stop speaking their mind is you.

The problem is the content of his mind (his opinion), not his decision to share his opinion. I'm not telling him to shut up and not say anything (e.g. Like you are suggesting essentially I do). I'm happy for him to speak his mind, and then I am happy to disagree and say his opinion is ridiculous. 

 

It's not disrespecting him because he has formed an independent opinion - It is disagreeing with his independent opinion (because we, surprise surprise, have our own opinions)
