Mustang, Focus crossover will be only Ford cars on the market in North America by 2020

Our Chevy Impalas are by far the best vehicles that we've ever had.

Previously, my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix was better in many ways than the subsequent 2007 Grand Prix.

 

I've had the displeasure of driving the 3 worst cars ever produced:

-- 1982 Chevy Cavalier (died of internal engine damage at 62K miles; zero power; had to replace clutch system 5 or 6 times)

-- 1989 Ford Taurus (wrecked it before I could angrily sledgehammer it after replacing everything under the hood at least once)

-- 2017 Cadilllac XTS (rental car for a completely miserable week)

My daughter is driving that car now and still no problems as it approaches 100K miles.

Yup can't kill them. We got a customer got almost 700k on his Camry.

Those are some sucky vehicles for sure.  

 

I think the worst out there today is a Fiat. Garbage.

I agree with you about the Ford Taurus, ours would seem to require repairing every 400 or so miles. My dad always hated Ford cars, and after owning a 2000 Taurus, I understood why.

Yes.  Rented one last year for a couple of days.  Rough, loud, under powered.  Felt unsafe in it.  Never again...

I bought a brand new 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 6.7L Cummins diesel in 2009.  I can't remember the exact purchase price but it was around ~$40,000.  Kept everything stock, except installing a trailer brake control that was about $100.  Put it up for sale for $30,000 a couple weeks ago and got calls within 10 mins of buyers wanting to pay the asking price.  I reconsidered after looking at current new truck prices for similar models and am keeping it for now.

 

My point being is that Dodge Rams retain their value nicely, at least ones with the Cummins.  75% purchase value retained after almost 10 years, not bad at all.

In this town RAM drivers are psycho and tried to kill me and my husband. They drive 'em until they look like they are falling apart.

Just wondering by chance if you guys had any recommendations for a good car that is affordable but roomy enough for the back passengers? My husband likes crossovers in particular (he seems to feel 1) a bigger car is better for our future hauling/kids/visitors etc and 2) the bigger the car the less likely it will get crushed by crazy drivers on I95), but I think they would be out of our price range just starting out. I'm thinking we should just upgrade the Toyota we currently have. We've sunk *a lot* of money into the old rust bucket, and nearly took it into the shop again, thinking that the cooling system was shot, but I made him open up the hood and look inside and we quickly realized that the guys had disconnected the fan plug at the Jiffy Lube ((&%*%$^$!!!!)). We reconnected that and it was much better. He is not into Chevys (he's used to all his European and foreign model cars). We're keeping the old thing for now, but I think by the end of the year it'll be time..

So many good SUV's out there. Toyota hat off.

 

Subaru makes an exceptional vehicle with great readability ratings and resale. As do Honda, Toyota and many others.

 

Figure out your budget first. then go from there. Most people dont figure in cost of ownership as a buying factor but its huge.
