What I really don’t get is why their trucks are rusting, but not the cars?  Seems like if they have the issue on one vehicle, they could work around it due to their success with other vehicles.

Rams have rust issues too (though I have had sales personnel tell me this isn’t true as Rams drove by on the road with front AND rear fenders rusted out.

My daily commuter is a Ford Focus. I love it. Constantly gets 32+ mpg. Rides smooth but is very nimble.

My wife and I have a plan to get an Explorer next year as the family car. I like the standard features of the Explorer. My best friend has a 2016 Explorer Platinum Edition. Fully loaded. You feel like and executive when riding in it.

Gosh I was talking with my nephew and someone else about this car last week.... They are both mechanics and would give their left ball for one of these.

The Ridgeline one is not a rust issue, but a corrosion issue in a wiring harness.  They replaced them last year with an improved fitting, and the issue is fixed.

I am looking into either a Civic or Accord for my daily commuter vehicle because paying $60 a week for just commuting is killing me.

Hahaha... It is not bad. I actually like it. Like I said, it is just a work commuter. My wife likes using it to make quick trips to the store.

My other car is an Infiniti but the avg mpg is almost half of the Focus. I pay between $25 - 30 a week to fill my tank and it last me from Monday to Friday. This is based on roughly 70+ miles a day total (to and from work). Most of the commute is highway. I want my next daily commuter car to either be a hybrid or full electric. I predict a steep climb in gas prices in the next couple of years.

I would choose the Civic over the Accord.

That's what I want as well because my commute is about 45 miles round trip a day almost all highway.. So my Tahoe drinks the gas like it's Koolaid.

My previous auto was a Camry hybrid.  Although not a really exciting car, it was a rock solid comfortable sedan that got great gas milage and was typically Toyota reliable.

My daughter is driving that car now and still no problems as it approaches 100K miles.

A couple of years ago we were vacationing in Germany and had a rental car.  Ended up with a Focus as we were also traveling to Czech Republic and they would not let us take a good car into that country.  The Focus had a 3 cylinder 1 liter engine which was very impressive.  Got up to 105 mph on the autobahn but quickly realized that car was not meant to drive those speeds.

Now we drive fine German autos as our daily drivers here at home.
