I think the Atlanta office is just moving very, very slow.

filed N400: May 15, 2020

Bio reused notice: Jan 20

And nothing.

oh wow.. I hope it is due to the pandemic, and now that the circumstances are getting better maybe things will move faster!

2020 was a black hole for USCIS filers, big backlog for most of the applications types!

I still have an I751 pending too filed in april 2020!

but thanks for taking the time and replying to my question :)

Today marks 120 days since our joint I-751/N-400 interview 😪

We have been in contact with our Senators and Congresswoman. We also sent a letter to our IO a couple of weeks ago who called my husband in to resign the application (just the part affirming the Constitution). Per IO hubby has 2 identities in their system because of his name change (However, his current name was updated over 2 years ago with the I-751, so I'm kind of skeptical that this is the reason) as well as criminal history (traffic violations for driving without a license) which contributed to the delay in processing his application. He told us we could hear something back in 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months 😫

We called yesterday and requested to be transferred to a tier 2 officer, but were told that someone would call us back within 7-14 days. I'm being cautiously optimistic that we might hear something back by the end of this month regarding the oath being scheduled.

As of 5/27/21 our case status states: Case Is Being Actively Reviewed by USCIS

Estimated time* until case decision:

approx. 11 months

My Oath Ceremony is scheduled for July 9th. Does anyone know if my husband can join me for the ceremony? Thank you.

I haven’t seen any changes announced at their website so you’ll have  to follow what your Oath Ceremony letter says. Currently they all say that you cannot bring any guests.

I figured as much, thank you for replying 😊 It's weird though that there are no other posts of people's recent Oath taking experiences.

Congrats on your Oath scheduling. Coincidentally, we received notice that my wife was also scheduled on July 9 at the Atlanta FO. I am sad that family members apparently can't be inside to witness this special occasion. I am happy, though, that at least two VJers (you and my wife) will become U.S. citizens at the same ceremony. That's a special treat at least.

Congratulations to your wife, too 🎉😊 It's sad that such a special thing cannot be shared with our loved ones but I'm happy to hear that at least two of us are there on the same day. VJ has been like family in a way and I'm very grateful 🙏😊

Thank you so much for your congrats and kind words! You are so correct about the indispensable support of the VJ family. I have met such awesome people who have made extraordinary efforts on behalf of their spouses and family members through their respective journeys. The struggle continues for many coming behind us. By the way, if you see a beautiful Ghanaian woman in her traditional garb at the Oath, don't hesitate to say hello! 😃.  In my imperfect Romanian, "felicitari" to you and your family!

Finally! Had my Judicial Oath Ceremony this week in downtown Atlanta courthouse. There were about 50 people, masks required, socially distanced.

The whole process took two hours—from 9:30am till 11:30. The first hour and a half is to get everyone into the courtroom, seat them, and get the pronunciation of everyone’s new names. The last 30 minutes are the official ceremony with the judge, celebratory speech, etc. They do not allow guests into the courtroom with applicants but they do allow the guests to wait in the cafeteria until the ceremony is over.

After the ceremony is over (11:30 am) everyone can re-enter the courtroom (including guests and family) to take pictures so feel free to bring your guests and families.

At the ceremony you are given a bunch of flyers, brochures, and other stuff. Among them are the instructions on how to apply for the passport at the midtown USPS.

I’ve had an appointment with them scheduled for the same day… big mistake. The midtown USPS does not work by appointments and pretty much does not work at all. It took me more than THREE hours to get my turn (first come first serve ticketing system). The process to apply is just FOUR MINUTES. That’s right you have to wait three hours for just four minutes of actual work 🤦‍♂️  Btw, those morons STAPLED my new Certificate of Naturalization #######.

Anyhow, I’m happy that I’m finally a US citizen…even though I have nothing to prove it with right now since I gave my certificate to the USPS lol
