How should the translation papers look?

Hello VisaJourney.

 

I really appreciate all the help people provide on this site, it's been such a help.

I do have one question and it's about translation of documents.

 

I want to know how the translation papers should look like?

And i do not mean the certificate at the end, but how should the actual translation document look like?

 

Is it normally written in a normal word document with simple text without the format and set up as the original, or is it written in the actual document where the translator is replacing the foreign language text so its the exact same setup?

A friend of mine asked if it could be seen as plagiarism or if there would be any copyright issues, if it was translated directly in the actual document with the actual stamps and signatures and so on.

My document that i need to translate is a lease, where both our names and signatures will be on.

 

Maybe it doesn't even matter and that i am just worrying to much, but does anybody have an example of how a translation may look like.

I am aware that i will need to send a copy of the foreign language document and the english translated one, but i am curious on how to do it correctly.

you never translate on a original document. It is a word document translated into English of the original document in it language. You never write on the document. In these days the translator can live anywhere and the original document can be scanned via PDF and emailed or if the translator lives in your city, you hand in a copy of the original document. Then the translator will send a word or PDF translation, but you never translate on the original document.

Okay, i just tried to google some examples, and all i could find was examples that looked exactly like the original but the text was changed.

 

So it would have to be written in a word document? But my question is then, is'nt it going to be confusing since i can't create the same format as the original lease? So it would just be plain text and not set up as it is in the lease document?

they just want to know what it says, and if you are in the lease or who is in the lease.

 

the translator will put into brackets if there is a logo, such as a logo of an apartment complex, if the lease has any seal, the translator will translate what the seals say

Do the best you can to make it look the same as the original document.  It should be recognizable.  It's not a problem if the original is legal size and the translation is not.  The translation should be in a similar format.  Professional translators know what to do.

 

Frankly though, in a Denmark case, I wouldn't bother translating a lease.  If you live together, you'll be signing an official form, that states your address is the same or that it was during a specific period of time.  Back that up with passport stamps showing you both in the same country during that time, and you have it covered.
