Hey Philippine folks!

Is there supposed to have A.K.A. on NBI Clearance for travel abroad? My wife is annulled to previous marriage so what is it supposed to look like if her previous surname marriage should be on list or??? What I am seeing here is her maiden FAMILY, MIDDLE names added to my SURNAME. Nothing special I see here. I KNOW Philippine system is something not organized. I do not meant to offend this country so I apology if I say something harsh here. Wish you all Philippine folks the best!

NBI CLEARANCE (Green Form): Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, or "No pending case”. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

AKA for ALL names used.

POLICE REPORT. Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Philippine police (NBI) clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is valid for one year from the date of issuance.

  • Please note that an NBI Clearance with an AKA is also required. Police clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names that may have appeared on other civil documents (e.g., birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.), even if these names or spellings have never been routinely used. Please refer to the NBI website http://www.nbi.gov.ph for additional information. You may request NBI to directly submit your NBI clearance to the US Embassy (recommended) here: https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph/.
  • Police Clearance from other countries: Applicants who have stayed for one (1) year or more upon reaching the age of 16 years are required to obtain a police certificate. Country-specific information on how to secure foreign police certificates is available at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html

Hank,

Have you got some experience with AKA NBI before? Because,,, I need to know if it will be under REMARKS as well under my wife's previous marriage? All I know is the birth single name, previous marriage ( surname ) and our marriage ( surname ) I hope NBI knows what to do <_<

If those are the three names your wife has used and they are all listed in the NBI you should be good to go.

Bring a copy of the embassy instructions letter  (yes I know it has been replaced by the online checklist, but the requirements are the same and it is on embassy letter head ;) )

You nixed the local police clearance I hope.

Hank, I went to NBI in Lipa, Batangas at the city hall. Guess what they said? They can not know how to fix the AKA and said that the annulment is something different.....,, referring me to Taft Avenue in manila with knowledge. I'm trying very hard with patience so hopefully it could get it done nicely. By the way, do you know the actual location of the NBI with better experiences regards the embassy for the interview? Highly appreciated with help. Thank you!

I think I found a spot main office in Manila that would be at United Nations Ave, Ermita, Manila, Metro Manila if it is correct? I also see St Luke Medical nearby on google map and as well with the US Embassy. I stayed at Bayview Hotel few times in the past.

Ah Lipa 'City, I do like that area.  It is on my serious list if we ever make the leap across the pond more permanent.

As for NBI I don't know which office is better, there was a post on that topic very recently.. the branch in Robinson mall in Manila is said to be very quick.

If you can't get an NBI in multiple names easily, maybe get more than one.   Just a thought.

Hank,

I'm going to NBI at the main office on Taft Avenue this Tuesday. What I have been thinking what you mentioned about more than just one form so I would assume.... SINGLE, ANNULLED, and currently MARRIED? But a thought if just one form to put under AKA: previous marriage name been used that would be just simple? I'm asking because you have so much experiences from the people with questions about NBI issue. I'm TRYING to find based on CR/IR1 related but all of them on K1 instead. :help:

I personally have not looked at the NBI request form, but from what I gather it has a space for current name and previous married name .. thus handling the AKA issue for most people.

NBI requirements by the embassy are the same for IR/CR-1 and the K-1 .. AKA for all names used.
