Busy busy today..and graduation tomorrow, but guess what I find out at the hair salon of all places?? Hrmmm...ok, I'll start over.

Craig came home from the shop an hour early today (working with my brother) because I had several places I wanted to run, and a hair apmt at 2. I thought, that is...it was at 3. Grrrrr. Anyway, I decided to hang out and yack with the two girls there while I waited instead of going home (even though it's just a few blocks) 'cause I know them both and hadn't seen them for a while. (All of that is irrelevant, btw, but it's just how I write...gotta tell alllllllll the details) So, while they were both busy, I decide to call someone, and accidently dial the wrong number...the local number for child support. I know her too, (even though I never, ever get any money..they've tried.) so I said, oh sorry Jessica...I dialed the wrong number...DOH. I tried to dial blah blah....and she goes...oh no, you didn't dial the wrong number...I tried to get ahold of you today, but got no answer. (another quick tangent: turns out I tried to turn the volume down on the phone at home last night and turned the ringer off...DOH again!) (Yeah, it was an accident..uh huh. yep. it was. ) Anyway...she tells me that my ex has been caught and jailed and is here in town!:blink: There has been a felony warrent out for him for quite a while, but I figured he'd just keep evading it...and never even think twice about it anymore...he lives 300 miles south where I grew up as well.

Oh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I don't even like the thought of him being in the same TOWN as me...the azz. (He was an abusive jerk, I should have left long before I did, and the only good (great) thing that came out of that was Corey.) Anyway, I was very surprised to hear that...they had picked him up in southern WI on a couple of warrents (disorderly conduct and domestic violence...AGAIN...see? told ya! ) and when they finished with him down there, they transferred him up here. Oh...did I mention that we only live about 2 blocks down from the jail/courthouse???? Even though I won't have to see him for a couple of weeks yet (in court...sigh. I don't even want to go.) :( I hate the thought that he's just down the way! I didn't even mention it to Corey (and won't) as he hasn't seen the ex for years and we don't even talk about him anymore...Craig IS his dad (and a great one I might add!) ...he's just wonderful with him and they have a great time together.

Anyway...this isn't my choice anymore (before anyone might think I'm really vindictive or anything)....the DA said it's out of my hands....but he either pays 5,000.00 this time or goes to prison (he owes about three times that amt. in total.) He hates jail, much less prison, so we'll see if mommy will bail him out with a loan or something...if not...guess he's gonna be somebodys "friend" for a while! I think he's looking at about 3 years if he doesn't pay. I was never trying to send him away, even though he's an a**, but some cash would have been nice...I've never been rich or that well off! Hmmmm...we'll have to see if we have some cashola coming our way in the next couple of months...would be nice...just wish he didn't have to be around here!!! M. :help:

I'm just teasing her. I thought it was funny how she wrote the story.

MichelleandCraig, a quick question for you. What's more important? Getting money from your ex? Or having your ex stay away and not bothering you and your family? Usually, you accept the money, then you it gives your ex reason to be coming around and disrupt things. Sometimes, it's just better to let sleeping dogs lie. I should be receiving child support from my oldest daughter's mother and from my ex-wife for my 2 girls with her. So, instead of wanting money from my daughter's mothers, I've made it very clear to them what sits over theirs heads. It is leverage for me to maintaining peace in my life. As long as they don't bother me or start ####### to cause upset my life in any way, they can keep their money. I don't need it. Being self-employed, I do just fine. My girls need anything, they know I will take care of it without hesitating. My life with my daughters is peaceful and I don't have to put up with any ####### at all. Is it worth not receiving any child support? Absolutely! I don't have to worry about my fiancee' having to deal with any garbage from either one when she is here with me. ;)

I remember what it was like being a single mom and going 13 months with NO child support....because he thought if he did that to me, I would come crawling back unable to make it on my own. Well I showed his azz! It caused some debt on my part but I made it. The money wasn't the main issue for me...it was the fact that he has this child and refused to support her. My daughter (and unfortunately his too) has a heart condition that she was born with and he was well aware of when we separated. I have to make sure she stays as healthy as possible. Then on top of that she has a form of epilepsy called Petit Mal Seizures. So yeah, receiving child support each month WAS important. He makes three times what I do even today. Now that it's court ordered, he pays albeit at the lowest amount legally allowed. My husband is ten times the father her biological dad is and if there were some way to terminate his rights as a father legally I would have done it already.

I can see Michelle's point AND I hope to god this amoeba stays away from her and her son Corey. (F)

Been busy, so just getting back to this...

Thanks everyone. Regarding the above statement, that's why I happened to mention that it's out of my hands...I would just as soon have nothing to do with him at this point. (and much earlier than *this* point, actually!) The warrant has been out for a *long* while though, and it's been a long time since child support has contacted me for any reason before the other day. (Nor have I contacted them...back when I was working with them, ages ago, it was because I *did* need the money if I could somehow get it...working fulltime plus, I was still struggling...) He got picked up on other outstanding warrants where he lives, 300m iles from here, as I mentioned though, and so they have a responsiblility to transfer him up here when they were done with him...which is what they did. It's a criminal matter now, and the DA said I have absolutely no influence as to what happens. In fact, a couple of years ago (the last time I had any dealing with him at all) when he was picked up, I asked to make an agreement where he could pay a minimal amount and I would drop all other past due amounts (substantial) if he would agree to waive any parental rights to Corey.(leaving the way open for Craig to adopt in future and for him to have no excuse to ever bother us!) The DA informed me that support and visitation were two separate issues and I would have to go to court over parental rights...I didn't have the money to do that. (and he had actually agreed to that after a *very small* fuss over it. THATS the kind of guy he is!)

Anyway, the point is that I feel the same as what you said about not having him around/in our lives...so I hope that clears that up for you.

 I LOVE her writing style. I was drawn in and felt like she was talking to me! Good Luck that it works out for you. The DA is right it is out of your hands. The ex is responsible for himself and the mess he created. (F)
