evidence of relationship?

Hi guys, had a quick look through, but wanted to be certain at what stage and what type of information (and how much) we need to prove our relationship ?

We have many dated photos on facebook, chat logs, we also have letters from individuals verifying our relationship from friends and family, is this overkill ?

thanks in advance !

I did not do any of this, is this a normal relationship, are there any issues you are concerned about?

What exactly are you applying for: K1, CR1, adjustment of status (AoS)?? And what do you mean by, "what stage we need to prove our relationship"? Do you mean: "at what point in the application process do you need to provide evidence?" OR do you mean: "does our relationship evidence need to start from the very beginning of our relationship to the very present?".

Sorry but to get proper and wholesome answers, I think we'll need more information about your case. In the meantime, photos and letters from friends and family are fine. Other things to include: evidence of travel together (boarding passes), tickets to any shows/concerts/entertainment events you attended together, receipts for gifts & presents.

If you are applying for AoS, it is also crucial to include evidence of financial co-mingling and shared responsibility:

- Joint bank account statements

- Joint credit card statements

- Any joint memberships (gym, Netflix, etc)

- Insurance policies with both your names on it

- Any bills with both your names on it

- Joint tax returns if you have that

no, at this point its just a standard k1 visa application (and then later on a AoS) i guess we read stuff about having to have some evidence of meeting in past 2 years and that its a legit relationship ? Sorry if i was being vague before, it wasnt intentional. I guess im asking "at what point in the application process do you need to provide evidence?"

Read this if you haven't already. Good luck!

I'm not 100% familiar with the K1 process. But at the bare minimum for the first step, it looks like you need evidence you've met face-to-face in the past 2 years and other things to show it's a legitimate relationship.

No problem. It looks like you don't need to go too crazy with the evidence AT FIRST. When the foreign fiance(e) goes to the K1 interview, he/she must bring more up-to-date proof then to show you guys are maintaining your relationship.

Have you met face to face within the last 2 years?

This is a London specific K1 answer.

Petition

Prove you met in person during the last two years. Show the trip boarding passes, passport stamps, maybe where you charged something or an ATM transaction in the other's town. Submit six photos together from various times. Skip everything Facebook.

Interview

Nothing about the relationship. Not necessary in London. If that totally freaks you out then bring one trip and a photo as your security blanket.

As long as you're not some dodgy couple, it is much easier than you imagine. The interview is a very short chat. No hard or tricky questions.

Thank you! I don't have boarding passes, but I do have passport stamps and a record of all my flights on my delta skymiles account which I could print off. And plenty of records of spending at restaurants in her city on my bank statements.

So it's best to use original photos ? I figured it may have been better to use Facebook ones as they have date stamps but it'll be easy to get originals printed off too.

It's your choice how best to put together your story to document you met face to face. The requirement is meeting in person so keep that the focus and not how many times you two posted...Love you...Love you back.

hey, late to the party here, and you've probably sent off everything now. But it might put your mind at ease for me sharing this: I included scans of original photographs (since they destroy original documents), and screenshots of being tagged in various places with my SO (as well as boarding passes, itineraries and passport stamps). They ask for proof of meeting within the last 2 years, that's all.

I'm not really sure where this whole additional proof of relationship thing came from because it's absolutely not a thing.
