Hi

I've looked into this on here and the cdph site and the quoted processing time for a marriage certificate is 6-7 weeks.

Q. Is anything issued on marriage that can be used for AOS or do we have to send off for this and wait another 6-7 weeks before we can file AOS?

Thank you for your help!

You have to send your marriage certificate copy with your AOS petition. That is proof that got you married within the 90 day time frame so unfortunately, you'll have to wait it out and add it to your petition.

Yes you need the marriage certificate to send a copy in with your AOS petition.

Each county/state varies a bit on this process.  We were lucky to be married in Georgia and they gave us certified copies right there at the court house.  We got ours just a few days after our wedding.

Yikes...yes I initially just saw 6- 12 weeks!! And I understand it varies by state. Unfortunately, that adds on another couple of months of not working!

So nothing is given at the time that is adequate?

Thanks!

Lucky you! California quotes 6-7 weeks which is yet longer not working...

You can get a public or confidential license. Public needs witnesses for marriage, confidential doesn't need one (we got that one). You apply for license and you can do ceremony there as well (you book it in at time of when obtaining license). If its like Santa Clara, the marriage certificage should be available 3 days after the ceremony has been conducted.

It indeed varies. I had my marriage certificate and certified copy literally 10 minutes after we got married (courthouse) and some wait weeks.

Just make sure you add the actual certificate copy and not a copy of the license or anything.

Our home is in Mount Shasta, so it will be Siskiyou county

I know it's pretty up there. I am kinda sad I never was able to get up that way before I left California, but the farthest North I have ever been was Bishop.

No, my question was meaning like do you plan on getting married in a church, JOP, or just a simple ceremony? Sorry I didn't clarify what I meant originally.

It is beautiful yes.

Won't be a church. Proabably a very simple ceremony with a celebrant, ideally on the mountain or by the lake, with a bigger celebration in a few months. With four children ( and eight! (though grown) on his ) and all there is much to negotiate. :D
