Hi,

VJ always gave me the answer in this journey and i am thankful to such a helpful forum which are helping millions without any cost. (Thank you)

I am married to US citizen from last six years and had two kids. came to USA almost three year ago on green card. Now my time is almost complete to apply for Citizenship, just need couple of answers, will appreciate that.

1) I have been travelling back and forth to my origin country in  last 3 years and my longest trip were (5 month & 25 days) and (5 months & 5 days).  Do i need to proof my continuous residence as both trips are under 6 months.

2) At the time of filling N400 which is after two months, total number of days which i will stay in US will be 551 days as i am applying 3 months earlier of 3 year anniversary . I am meeting all other requirements.

3) What do you think Consular Officer can deny me or can delay my application? My understanding is i am fulfilling all minimum requirement. Please share your experience too.

Thank you so much for taking time to reply.

have a nice day

Depends on your trips. Sometimes if the gap is not long between those 5 month trips, the officer can consider it as one long trip which may break your continuous residence.

As for the 18 months physical presence, as per google 551 days is 18.115 months which satisfies the requirement.

i have a similar question too. I have been married to the same person for 5years, I got my permanent residency in 2014 but from then to 2016 i have been outside the US 38 times in and out. The total number of days outside the US all together is 483days. I used to work for an airline so I was going back and forth waiting for a transfer which never happened and I had to quit. The longest I have been outside the US in that time was 69days at one time.

I have not been outside the US since May of 2016. I wanted to know if I qualify for citizenship or do I have to wait till next year?
