Hi there,

Am I supposed to provide the ORIGINAL certified marriage certificate? Or can I provide a copy? My wife is sentimental to the original, since its the original. lul Thank you!

Also for affidavit of support I-864 I read in the rules that if you are comfortably over the minimum salary, you do not need to provide supporting funds (bank accounts, investments) is this true? Or am I better off providing EVERYTHING? Again Thank you.

Literally stressing out over everything AGAIN. Also do we need to provide proof of relationship like we filed for K1 Visa or is that needed? gonna go crazy printing photos/providing my life summary...

THank you in advance!

When we submitted the marriage license for filing we asked for 5 certified copies. We used one of those for the AOS packet, no issues.

And I'm well above the line needed financially. I supplied the 3 years tax transcripts and 3 years W2's just to "verify" it all. Again no issues. No banking stuff or anything included.

As for relationship stuff, we just provided copy of lease showing both names on it and a letter showing we had a joint savings account. We kept seperate checking accounts. Didn't send pictures or anything; but doesn't hurt to add stuff. I didn't have time to add him to my company health insurance or life insurance policy before we sent it off but again didn't run into any issues; but each case is unique so.

I guess it's different in Washington, but in Missouri THE original is kept in the country clerk's office. The only thing we are allowed to have is a certified copy. You should be able to request from your county/state clerk a certified copy of your marriage certificate. This would be adequate.

I didn't provide proof of savings because I make almost double the required income. If they need more, I'll let them ask for it.

Yes, you need photos of the wedding. I think we provided about 10-15 pictures all printed out at home on regular paper.

Don't stress. At least now you're together :)

In MD you are never given an original, it's held by the county clerk and I'd imagine that's the same everywhere. What you may receive is a certificate for, as was described to me, your own record keeping or memento. It looks very different than the official certified copy and it doesn't have as much legal weight. You should just be able to go to your county clerk and obtain the official certified copy, or as many as you'd like for a small fee, which will do just fine for your AOS application.

If you are fine for the financial test, for the I-864, you should be good just providing IRS Tax Transcripts, employer letter, and a selection of pay stubs.

The rest of the evidence is very straightforward, perhaps even easier than the K1 application imo. Go over the guide carefully. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Wedding photographs or other stuff not required, in fact we didn't even send those because they weren't ready in time.
