Hi everyone, can you guys share your medical experiences?

I watched a video yesterday from a guy who had his medical at the same clinic I will. He said you have to get naked and they will inspect your genitals.

I am very nervous about this, I don't a want a doctor to touch me for no reason. Do they touch you or just look?

Can I request a woman (A nurse) to be present?

I know there's no way around it, so I wanna be mentally prepared. Thank you all <3

Relax they just take the blood and urine test. Also if you test positive for latent TB, an X ray. Nothing else. Whoever told you that you will have to strip was having fun.

call the doctor's office to find out.

Mine was straightforward, I didn't have to take off any clothes, but if I had to, that would had been fine, since it would be a MEDICAL test.

Thank you both for sharing!

I  did see on this website that I should expect all of the following, but I guess every country could be different:

"The medical examination includes a review of the applicant's medical history, physical examination, chest X-ray, and blood tests. The physical examination will at least include examination of the eyes, ears, nose and throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin, and external genitalia."

My answer pertains to when you Adjust status in the US. As you pointed out embassy rules might be different and might depend on the country.

I was sorta stripped down? Is that weird? I immediately had a female doctor attending to my physical -- had no idea stripping was necessary. I didn't take off my undergarments, simply dress was pulled up. Just, breasts were checked for cancer lumps. Stomach was listened too and directly tapped for.... perhaps stomach ulcers???????

I'm no doctor.

When I had my K1 visa  examination, I did not have to get naked or anything like that and I don't know of anybody that went through some like that. Doctor checked lungs (with stethoscope), check eyes vision, normal routine test. Then I did x-rays at a lab, vaccines test, etc. This was in Argentina, so I do not think Mexico will be different.

I went through the medical exam in CDJ in 2016 and indeed the Dr did ask you to remove all your clothes including underwear and put on a medical robe. She left the room and gave me some minutes to undress. During the examination, she did ask me to lift the robe to see the genital area, but there was no touching. Eventually she did get to se every part of my body, but because she was female I did not feel it was too uncomfortable. She asked questions about my medical history.

I must share that the following year I went with my 14 year son and I was allowed in with him. The Dr allowed him to stay in his underwear and she asked me all the questions about his medical history, In that clinic, women and children under 15 are assigned to a specific area.

I guess in Mexico the medical exam is much more invasive.

Probably depends on the country and clinic. In Sweden I only had to take my jacket off for the medical itself, nothing else. For the x-rays I had to be naked on my upper body, obviously, so they could get clear pics of my lungs.

It probably depends on which country you are coming from/being examined in before leaving. My fiancé is from Sweden and he didn't have to change or undress; everything was pretty basic. However, other countries could potentially require other things to be checked. For example, some women have had their breasts checked for lumps and whatnot. It's basically a physical, so I don't consider that to be abnormal. Whenever I've had a full physical here in the states as an American, I've had to undress and put one of those paper gowns on. They do press on your stomach sometimes during physicals or check ups. It may also vary depending on your personal medical history, etc.

You also cannot believe everything you see on YouTube, or wherever this video was. ;)

If you want the validation, I would just call the doctor's office you will be visiting to see if they can explain what you can expect before going. They may calm your nerves a bit.

Håll ut, y'all.

For the  physical exam, it was in the doctor's room. I had a female doctor and she asked me take off everything and put on a patient gown. I laid down on the examination table and she listened to my heartbeat and lungs. She then proceeded to tap my stomach, feel the lymph nodes on my neck, and did a breast examination. It all went quickly, less than 2 minutes. Nothing to be too nervous about.

At my medical it just seemed like the normal procedures, blood, urine, heart ears etc. It was cold and I was wearing a huge hoodie, so the Doctor did ask me to raise the hoodie a little to show him my back, and my arms, that's it. A female nurse was also present. Don't be nervous!

It's a medical.  Why are you concerned about a Doctor of Medicine checking you over? Generally speaking if you're female you can request a female doctor or nurse to be present.  They're not doing an internal physical exam.
