Email two years later

Hello,

  my wife and I received an email stating that the NVC received our documents two years ago. We already used got and used her visa and she is on her two year green card now.

 

we aren’t close enough to start the move to a ten year yet.

 

She is a little worried this is probably just a mistake or is there a reason for it?

Sounds like an error if she already has her green card.  Suggest she call them none-the-less.

Yeah we are in the Netherlands now,I sent an email and it was just the timing that she’s out of the country that scared her but I told her not to worry odds are it’s a fluke.

I'm sure it's just a weird error as well.  I can imagine it is worrisome though.

Flukes happen, They reopened my EAD petition 3 months after receiving my green card. Not the AP part, just the EAD. I received my green card before getting the combo card (Those were the days).

I thought about contacting them than forgot, it dropped from my account when I checked back in for the ROC part.

I remember two years ago there was a flurry of emails that people who were already here and had green cards in hand, etc received that said their visa had been denied. I also received an NVC email saying that the Paris embassy was waiting for some documents from me - I have never lived in France or ever had any desire to. Totally random! 

 

I heard that thry have various codes that they type into your electronic file every time they access it and these codes auto-generate emails. The codes are similar and a quick typo can generate the wrong email. For example, the code for "documents received" that sends an email saying that the documents have arrived could be very similar to a code for archiving your case. Based on how long your wife has been here, perhaps your file was being archived but someone typed in the wrong status/action code and this auto-generated this email.
