Sorry, but this isnt true. My son got his AOS approved and got his GreenCard 2 weeks after his interview. My wife is still waiting for her namecheck to be approved, so her GC is still pending!

When it comes to USCIS and the entire bureacracy of immigration and security, it seems one hand never knows what the other is doing. Some type of central brain dysfunction I suspect??

We are scheduled for an INFOPASS on 4/13/07 to find out the status of our case. We were interviewed on 12/5 and the officer said he was approving our I130 petitiion but not AOS since the FBI check was not complete.

Our online status still says I-130 pending approval. It has not been touched since Oct 2006.

Has anyone had this experience?

Should our I-130 have been approved by now and a letter/notice sent to us for at least that specific document while we are waiting for the FBI clearance?

Also, we recently discovered that there is another person from my husband's home country with the same first and last name, living in our same city. Could this be one reason why the FBI clearance is taking longer?

Unlikely, but it depends.....lol

Is this other person also a recent immigrant (ie post Sept. 11, 2005)?

Or does he already have a record in the US?

Your AOS was only filed 7 months ago. You really haven't been waiting all that long. This will probably sort itself naturally.

No news from my end, I'm afraid. It's been a while since I checked into this thread -- nomally i try and sit these things out and forget about the wait. I do have a couple of comments/questions, though:

It's now been 2-years since i filed. I have an NOA of March 14, 2005. So, when the card does come I'm expecting it to be a 10-year card. This is correct, right? This is the only consolations for us long-timers.

Also, I just spoke to the information center. I had my fingerprints re-done in August, and I wanted to find out if this affected my case/timescale. They said the authorities will now treat my case as if i had been fingerprinted for the first time. It seems they will re-submit my details to the FBI, who will start the background check all over again. Again, does this sound correct?

you should be eligible for the 10 year greencard, others have received it as well aftwer waiting past their 2 year anniversaries, ultimately it is up to the AO.

As far as re-starting your namecheck, anything is possible, especially when fingerprints expire (*gag*), but this is the 1st time I have seen anyone state the whole process begins again. It may be important to note that security checks when done to obtain a visa DO expire and are re-ordered with some frequency. While that is an entirely different process and agency, who knows, maybe some parrallels there.

Fingerprint checks and Name checks are 2 seperate entities. Fingerprints are relatively fast and easy. The Namecheck on the other end can be laborious. Or at the least, it is killing us.

I wrote our Senator a 3rd letter today. I might try writing him 1 a week just to see if maybe I can hassle him to urge the FBI to complete our case.

Well.....we got a letter from USCIS today for Wes to be reprinted.

There's a post-it note stuck to it that says 'Background checks are clear - you must be reprinted ASAP'.

I guess...that means we are almost...............DONE.
