AOS interview successful, but waiting for FBI name check

Yes, I have done it all. Written twice to my Senator. His reply is the same. FBI namecheck is out of his hands. I have made numerous Infopass appts to be told the same thing. "3 years is not beyond ordinary"

Writ of Mandamus is now not a viable option, so instead, all I can do is wait.

I don't know what else to do.

File went to FBI for Name Check on 10-08-2004

AOS interview 2-16-2006

Told that AOS approved "Pending Name Check"

Refiled for EAD 12-12-2006

EAD approved 3-04-2007

I-131-AP filed 2-18-2007

I have written both Senators of my state with no luck.

I have written my district congressman with no luck.

They all say it is out of their hands.

I even wrote GW Bush a letter asking for help , but got no reply.

hi all,

so it took more than three years (and more than four if you count that it took INS a year just to issue the first notice of action)--but I'm now a permanent resident! just got my greencard in the mail -- the holograms are cra-zy.

we were essentially told the same thing at infopass, any anecdotal evidence we have seen was rejected completely. They essentially told us in no uncertain terms we were wasting their time by making the appointment to check status.

One thing is for sure, lawmakers have much pressure on them from various groups regarding this subject. 3 years isn't all that bad? give me a break. National security is a farce. right now you can make sure a check & balance in in the system with the new bill set to come out. make sure your congressmen are aware who you are and how long you are waiting and let them know this is important to you. make sure they are aware something CAN be changed by contacting/working with Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) and Congressman Luis Gutierrez (IL). The Strive Act does go into much detail about how there can be a check & balance system employed here.

So many people just complain about the system - well there is a way to change it! You can talk to your elected officials yourself (visit them!) or you can have strength in numbers with Americanfamiliesunited.org . Obviously someone is listening if these changes have made it into 2 comprehensive bills in a month.

going to throw in my 2 cents.

1. Just because it may take a long time does not mean its denied

2. If the fees are raised, and interim benefits (AP,EAD) are included in the cost, if you have long wait, at least you do not have to come out of pocket to get renewals for the interim benefits

3. For those of you who filed in the last six months and are complaining ...... SHUT UP. follow the process, ensure you document all of your actions and communications. Sit back and wait like the rest of us.

We have been waiting just over seven months, while it frustrating, we wait.

4. contact you senators, congressional Rep, Information line, District Managers, Ombudsman, who ever you can.

This Process is cumbersome and hard, but maybe, just maybe. We can enact change

but why post it here? wouldn't it, if applicable in a larger scope be better as a stand-alone thread?

I guess I am just a little sensitive that we, the STONE AGE TIMERS thread are told to SHUT UP. You posted it here, in any other situation that would be because it is applicable HERE. I would say the mass hysteria surrounding many other threads gentle reminders of patience would be helpful.
